Topic: os 9 and os x on same computer- how to switch between?

There are 2 ways: If you are already booted up an in one OS and want to switch to the other change it in "Startup Disk" located in either Control Panels or System Preferences (9/X respectively) and Restart. If the computer is off and you want to select which OS to boot into then hold down the Option...

Yeah, I like it. It's pretty simple which is nice. I haven't used the preamps in it in a while but I remember liking them. The EQ has a definite "sound" for lack of a better word. A little goes a long way.
Umm, that's all I can remember though.

I'm pretty sure about the 499. But I'm sure there's just some confusion of semantics. I think I would have figured it out if I was using the wrong side! I had a hard time finding a picture on the internet but i guess it's safe to say that if you open a new reel of tape the backing is facing out and ...

Yeah, well, it's been a while... But the way I was picturing it was the dull side, the backing, being the 'darker' side and the recording side being light brown. The reel of 499 I have here is definitely 'shiny' on the oxide side. But I haven't worked with analog in some years so I'll defer to your ...

FS: MPC2k - $600

I'm selling my MPC2000. Maxed out RAM. It's expanded with 8 additional outputs, Digital I/O and SMPTE in/out. I have a SCSI zip drive for it and can provide some Zips. I'll also throw in a CD full of drum sounds. All for $600 It has very little use. It's not only great for hip hop and electronic mus...

I'm interested in this, too. My client wants the audio off her own DVD from a live performance. I'd really rather not sit there with her for an hour recording it in real time. If there is a way to extract the audio that would be ideal.

While I have no problem with putting 5 compressors in a row I'd consider automation. You can really control the dynamics and peaks without changing with the timbre. Unless that's what you want. I'd also try playing the section and pan the solo to see if it pops out an bit better. I find that even if...

The same plugins have to be on both the Compressed and Non-compressed bus. Most of the time you can put the plug in on bypass on the non comped track.

I don't use send busses. I assign the outputs of the drum tracks to 2 different outputs. I haven't done this in LE though so take it with a grain of salt.

Here's what I do. Bear in mind that I'm using a pretty old Pro Tools 5.1 Mix+ setup but I think it still works on newer versions. ProTools tracks can be routed to multiple outputs simultaneously. I assign the outputs of my drums (say 12 tracks) to bus 3-4. I'll put a compressor on that bus doing alm...

Three syllables vs. five. My mouth likes saying "esspeediff".
I go with two syllables "SPiD-IF". I refuse to recognize the backslash.

I really want to turn AES/EUB into an acronym but I fear I will be punched.

Check to see if 'Sound Check' is on. It's under Settings. If it's on turn it off. I did a quick check here at home through a cheap Samson mixer and it was plenty loud. Even when playing back a relatively quiet Smiths song.
I just ran it from the headphone jack to 2 line ins on the mixer.
