Re: drum triggers/midi question

drumagog seems interesting..........more involved on the computer editing side than the plug in the gear and go that i am kind of looking for. triggers are not "plug in and go" either!! they're a pain in the ass (imo) to set up... then, if the triggers are touching the drum heads, they're inevitabl...

nope!

I bought a pair for $350, when they were temporarily (and mysteriously) marked as a discontinued product at GC.
I like them alot. I think they sound great. Now, my control room.... that's another story!

Re: Pro Tools Vs Nuendo?

If you're not working in video post, I don't know why you'd want Nuendo. Cubase SX has the same exact audio engine and 99.99% of the audio functionality at half the price.

Re: Singer had this forward thinking idea

I've seen too many jackass metal singers stick the mic down their pants for me to use a house mic. As a soundman, I'd prefer if they handled their own effects from the stage. I usually am not familiar with the songs and the singer knows what effects sound best in which parts. but, if you're going to...

Re: I Think I'm Over Trying To Find A Drummer

everyone's looking for a drummer anyway! that's why so many of them are psychotic.... because they can be. which band was that in TapeOp who had rigged up a bunch of motors to trigger real drums with midi?? That's the idea! Real drum sounds, without all the baggage! Sorry for trashing drummers! I re...

sounds simple enough to me!!

if they can't pay you for 30 days, tell them that that's when they can pick up the master!

Re: MOTU HD 192

I'm switching to Mac at the end of the year. I've been using a powerbook this year for internet/business stuff... I really like the OS. but, that said, the whole "stay away from PC's for audio" thing is sooooo outdated. PC's are great for audio. There's a little more tweaking needed than with a mac....

Re: why does iTunes suck?

maybe logic has some kind of hidden processing on the output bus... you know, like soft limiting or something. I've heard rumors of this in the past.

Re: drum tracks

if I've got the time to do it, I ALWAYS put up more mics than I think I'll need. I can't think of one good reason NOT to! You don't have to use every track you record. I do many bands that want to come in and do basics for all of their songs in one day. In that case especially, I throw up every mic ...

don't forget to watch the meters on your compressor. they can show you what's happening, even when it's very transparent compression.

adam, I had an almost identical experience at Guitar Center: me: I'm looking for a drum module with trigger inputs. drum "expert" dude: So, you want some triggers. me: No, I need a module that can convert the trigger signal to to midi. Something like the Alesis DM5. Do you have anything like that? d...

Re: alesis d4

the dm5 is $325 new... I'd be surprised to find one used for $200... not having any experience with these things, and having some bad experiences in the past with Alesis gear, I decided on picking up a new one. from my one session with it, I'd suggest triggering from tape, rather than triggers that ...
