Re: Empirical Labs Fatso
You might think about a Distressor, too. Those things are amazing. I got a Fatso a week or so ago but am still trying to figure out how all the controls interact with each other. For a main tracking compressor, I myself would use a Distressor (if I had to choose between the two), but that's just my ...

Re: Tube Mic Reccomendations?
I have a 149, but I'm too scared to put it on electric guitar. :) It could probably handle the SPL, though. From Neumann's site ( http://www.neumann.com/infopool/mics/produkte.php?ProdID=m149tube : for K < 0,5 % - 120 dB for K < 5 % - 136 dB I have no idea what "K" is, though.... For me, I love a Ro...

Haven't recorded much jazz, but if money were no object, DW drums all the way for me. Don't know how they'd sound on jazz, though.eflatminor wrote:I know there is no one "best" but I'd love to hear what you would acquire for house drums in a jazz recording studio if money were not an issue.

The Nord Electro? Yeah, those things look really awesome. I have a Nord Modular and that thing is amazing. I only understand about 13.28347% of how to program it, though.heylow wrote:I want to get one of those cool Nord keyboards that emulate all the old keyboards....those things sound great!

Re: WELCOME!
i'm wondering...how do you set up those little pics by your name? Go into your profile and at the bottom, there is a section named "Avatar control panel" with a field for you to enter a path to a .gif to use as an avatar. It has to be an address to a web site, right now there's no way to upload pic...

Re: Mapex Drums experience?
I have a Mapex kit in my studio and I find them to be very nice drums. Mine are maple, though, so I don't know what the cherrywood ones would sound like. But, overall, I think they're fine drums.

Re: Universal Audio 2108
I have a 2108 and a 610. I think the 610 is great for female vocals, drum overheads and direct bass. To my ears, it's more "open" in the upper frequencies, while the 2108 is definitely well suited for drums (I use it for kick and snare a lot) and distorted guitars; I find it "tighter". I think they ...
