the N72 are the ones i use least, but they are good for toms with their dial-able grit. Do the N72s have output attenuation to dial that grit against? I ask because the A12 has no control of output-vs-input which kinda bummed me out. As the owner of some other Neve clones I realize how key that dia...

It's unlikely that the majority of your favorite albums were recorded in a vacuum.

Yeah dynamics are not the usual choice with their grit and girth, but they are totally under-chosen for some of those tasks where people normally reach for the sparkly sound like overheads AND acoustic guitar and I say fuckin' go for it. Another good dynamic choice might also be an SM7B. They have a...

I think the one thing that's not been said is a STRENGTH of recording yourself...in spite of all the weaknesses...is that one is often much more relaxed without that other person in the room, and therefore willing to do as many takes as-necessary to get a part right. As opposed to "that's good enoug...

BUMP!!! Okay, post-session now...nothing but coolness at my first Sharkbite session which was also my first time freelancing as an engineer outside my own home studio. Adam was most helpful in showing me the ropes and basically "making me" do all the patching, running of cables, console knob twiddli...

QUICKLY! The event is this Friday the 30th. She's been given a quote by a local (the only local) audio-vi...

Dude, how did you know I was such a huge Tad Donelley fan? (Know what I'm sayin'?) Dude, who isn't these days? He's a Mutt Lang. He's got a couple of hits out there. He's feelin' good. I get much more joy from Tad Donnelley than I do from Mutt Lange. From what I hear so does Shania, but if you only...
