Re: Micing a Piano

There was a decent artical in Mix last month that discussed the technics some of the greats like Al Schmitt use. The technics seem applicable, but the mics they were using are sick. Unless you have a few u67s sitting around.. or you could borrow them. =)

Re: Maybe we should chip in and. . .

They've been trying to dump that place for a while now. I saw it on eBay a month or so ago.

Don't forget that if you are a student/teacher/employee at any k-12 or accredited four year school that you can qualify for a edu discount on Apple's site. It usually saves you about $100-$300 on a system.

Synthesis FAQ/Tutorial

Does anyone have any links to a good synth faq/tutorial? Even if you have some titles of books that are good, i'd be interested.

Mackie SR-1530's in Chicago

I'm selling my mackie 1530 speakers. They're in great condition and have only been moved a few times. They are active loud speakers for sound reinforcement. I'd like $1400 for the pair, but would take serious offers if you are paying cash and picking them up. I can't ship these - they are too heavy,...

Re: Trigger Redrum via ProTools MIDI track???

Oh hey, will ya look at that - Rewire2 has Rewire MIDI as well! Yeah. So, i retract my former statement, and agree with the approach of finding the note that is supposed to be triggering the kick. Start with C0.

Take a look at the RME stuff. Lots of adat in/out, good quality, and it's inexpensive.

Let me know if they're still available. I'll either take them for the $125, or we can talk a trade.

Will mix for free.

I'm looking for Mix work - I don't charge anything. Here's my studio info so you can see what I have going on. Give me a ring, maybe we can work something out.

Re: Trigger Redrum via ProTools MIDI track???

Are you talking about syncronization, or MIDI sequencing? If you are talking about sequencing I'm pretty sure that you can't do this. Reason doesn't take MIDI from other software, and doesn't send MIDI to other software. The rewire engine is just for syncing things up and sending audio from one syst...

Newbie drummer available in Chicago

I'm new at playing drums (6 months) and I'm looking to join an indie-rock band. I'm into downbeat stuff, but faster is cool too. I like black heart presession, modest mouse, neutral milk hotel, low, and the like. I'm taking lessons, but need something to work with to grow faster. I can practice 3 ti...

Re: Computer recording basics

I agree. As soon as something better/newer comes out the feeling is that the last model is obsolete. Be careful to not get caught up in this. If something still does what you bought it for, then chances are that it'll do just fine and you don't need to upgrade. Swap things out when they start to hin...
