Ahh... thank you. So i guess my next question is, what are the drawbacks of using firewire over pci card based systems. (I hear latency is an issue as well as the fact that your computer is doing all the proccessing... am I correct?) Firewire can be a pain in the ass, especially if you intend to us...

External A/D question....

If I have a firewire interface, but I connect an external A/D converter via Adat and use the external as a clock as well, is the firewire piece going to do anything to the signal? I guess I mean, since the signal is digital already, the firewire interface shouldn't really color the sound anymore rig...

To me a DI mixed acoustic recording always sounds like that first Dashboard record... which is good, I just don't want my guitars to sound that way...

Anyway I hear LR Baggs are where it's at but you're gonna pay...

Hi. Rule of thumb: Only use an external clock when you have more than one audio converter interface. And Always use one when using different brands of interfaces together. Myth: A word clock will improve the audio quality of a single audio interface. Most of the time, it will not. I will now duck u...

MOTU 896 with external clock and external pre's....

I have an 896 and have hear that the clock and pres are nothing to write home about. Instead of doing something like the black lion mods, (Since they don't change the AD/DA conv.) I was wondering if I would hear a major difference using a quality master clock via spdif and some good pres (Which I wa...

Hey BTW... How do you like EZ drummer? I mean, it sounds great in this track but How versatile is it? It looks like it only has a few sounds... Maybe the pro series is more legit?

Routing a comp through the MOTU896

I have a dbx 166xl just sitting here and I never use it. Which sucks cause I like it... I go straight into the MOTU with all my mics, so I don't have a mixer. Why can't I figure out how to route a track into the 896 and then back out the comp...then back in...?
