You can try here: http://www.advancedmusical.com/ Not far south from SFV, in West LA. Yep thanks. I know they're the only Avid approved repair shop ... kinda crazy that there's only ONE here in LA. I might end up shipping my card to them rather than head over the hill. And folks don't make fun unle...

Avid/Digidesign repair in LA/SFV?

I have a 192 card that needs repair. Can someone recommend a reasonable repair shop or person ... ideally in the Valley?

BTW I've been in contact with this guy:http://www.studio-techservices.com/E%3DMB2/E%3DMB2.html but his communication is too sporadic, so I'm looking elsewhere.

Thanks!!

Recently snagged a Digi 192 to expand my I/O. Lucky me all but one of the input channels totally work!!

Ugh. I feel like since starting to collect outboard gear I spend more time fiddling and troubleshooting then mixing. I'm going the wrong way. ITB sounds so great right now.

Well, since it sounds like you've covered your bases compressor-wise ... and you still have the hunger for this specific box ... you should jump on it. As mentioned, the Distressor will hold value so you likely won't lose anything by trying it out. If it inspires you to learn and continue get better...

Let's play devil's advocate: For that price you could get 5 Pro VLA's, or 3-4 dbx 160a's, or 6 RNC's .... the list goes on. These are all prosumer- to pro- level boxes that many, many fellow "home-recordists" enjoy. Now, do you only need one channel? You mention recording vocals. If so and you have ...

Client of mine brought over her Mojave MA-200 for a couple sessions recently. It's very, very airy and a touch sibilant on her voice. I think in the end it will cut through this dense rock mix nicely, but I must admit I was a bit surprised by the lack of body. Anyway, just though I'd throw that out ...

edit: don't want this to be misconstrued. It struck me as funny that the naysayers are warning him of power consumption. Hence why I laughed at @Recording Engineer's choice of words. Thank you and goodnight.

Re: desk

I made one recently out of oak ply and solid oak for the edging. I made it modular so the left module can move over if I ever get a bigger mixer, or break it out into just rack stands. http://www.babipal.com/2013/06/recording-studio-desk-with-mixer-stand/ Very nice! You owe it to yourself to get a ...

I lived in Portland for 4 years and loved it. But now I live in LA and I would probably not move back because of the weather. It is rough. And Seattle's weather is worse plus the traffic is a nightmare and the people have second-tier-city complex (similar to Napoleon complex). What about Denver? Col...

I know this often comes down to "I'm going to recommend what I own," but I really do like my Equator D5s.

Your money is probably best spend attempting to acoustically treat your nook.

Congrats on the new release, Tim!

I have one question: I have a "v2" chassis ... will you still have not-counter-bored sub panels available to match the ones I already have?

Thanks,
Adam.
