Re: mac people: pci 324 to sound manager and back again
Methinks I have an ansarrrrr fer ya, lad! ahem, sorry, I find myself typing in pirate at times. You have only spoken of switching your audio outputs to sm in one spot, which I assume is in the outputs int the control panel (unless you stated in, but that would make me feel less clever!). While I'm n...

Re: Logic vs. DP 4??
I have used almost all mac based DAW's in the past-and now recently, Logic. I didn't find it at all difficult, though it does have that rep. I am pleased to report that it was smooth and efficient. I wouldn't go so far as to say which is better-I think that depends on the user... I am pleased to rep...

Re: ADK Mic?
I have a pair of the 51-TL's, and I rather like them. I refer to them as my "Swiss Army Knife" mics because they seem to work well in a wide variety of applications.
Hope this helps.

Re: MAC Users: Lower End options and how they work
Just a few Mac notes that may help you. You should aim for a newer G4. The first G4 used the "Yikes" (Yosemite) motherboard and was not too stable for some. It has no AGP slot for video. Following that was a stable series "Sawtooth". I would avoid the Rev1, as you maay have video card incompatibilti...

computer? OS? Buffer size? credit card number? Can't Blame me for tryin'!javascript:emoticon('') Do you have an extra PCI video card? When do the crackles occur, tracking, playback, both? On a single track? Do you have the current MOTU drivers. Does it give you the HF driver freak out noise, or...

Re: best firewire drive?
Just a heads up on La cie, there are no fans in those cases, and depending on the model, use WD drives with 2 meg buffers. You may be best served getting, say, a WD1200J (Western Digital), 120 gig with 8 meg buffer, or the comparable seagate drive and throwing it into an ADS case. They are using the...

Noise from TFT flat panel displays...
Greetings, All! I am running a MAc G4/500 sawtooth with 2 flat panels off of an AGP RAdeon 8500. The displays (Samsung flat panels) emit a HF magnetic noise (C#-whee!)from the rear which is getting induced into the audio path of the mixer and surrounding electronics. The noise ceases when turning th...
