Two drummers sharing one drumkit is like you sharing your girlfriend. Good luck with that... Pffft; they're drums, we hit them. (the sound is more about the heads and the tuning than the shells) In this application the determining factor is durability; drummers that are picky about their sound can ...

I could do to spend a little more time with real-world examples of current/resistance/voltage in various circuits. I think working thru some power supply theory would be helpful in this regard.

Also I get a little flummoxed with power transfer thru impedence matching/mismatching.

Good video. I recently did the same thing to a 206a, and still need to add the tremolo. Personally, I think these things sound best through a Fender tremolo amp, so I don't have a lot of motivation to do the trem mod, and even less to install speakers. In fact I'd be happy to remove the power amp s...

Can you do RIMS-type mounts on both toms, then mount gibralter or Pearl arms onto the RIMS, then drop them onto a triple multi-clamp, which then attaches to the existing post? Does that make sense?

Personally I think you should just commit to playing the full drum kit in all its glory.

... will make zero tone difference for someone who's not driving the amp hard enough to saturate it. So a transformer, is a transformer, is a transformer...? Never heard that one before. In this instance, I think the results will be underwhelming, particularly for someone who in his first p...

Something else to consider is that there's no real reason to not get a multi-tap OT. That way you can hook it up for 4 ohms and tape the other leads off. If someone in the future decides to go back to 8 or even to 16, then the capability will be lying there waiting. No reason except 100 bucks and a...

There's a very high impedence on the reed bar, and if you don't have a good meter with a high internal impedence, the DC reading can appear lower than it really is. If you're reading any voltage at all on the preamp, it would seem there's not a short between the reeds and reed bar. Is the main amp w...

I have the same voice master box. Those pres are easy to rewire to have direct outs. If anyone needs instructions, PM me and I'll show you how.

Also, if anyone has a schematic to these, please PM me.

Thanks,

Rod, those are exactly the same conditions under which my amp would redplate. And the only condition that would remedy it was to put in a more robust tube than a 6L6GC. I was almost ok with just running the amp on standby for the proper amount of time (which I do anyway), but I felt that one mistake...

If anyone needs any closure on this, I put in KT-88s and it's up and running. The overhaul of this amp included: New faceplate Replacing all filter caps Rebuilding Bias Replace flyback resistors Replace page and screen resistors Install new tube sockets New tubes Cut and drill the chassis in order t...

So here's the update: after replacing the plate resitrors, grid resistors and bias supply, the issue is still there. However, if I take out the 6L6s and use the original 7027s the amp will not redplate. So I think either I have a bad 6L6, or they're just running outside their specs and can't handle ...
