Lowcut/hicut on nearly everything here. Why leave anything under 30Hz on the track when most systems can't reproduce these? Live it just eats up power from the subs and 30Hz or something are deep enough to rattle everything. I chose my recording gear to have either unobtrusive (read = not effing up ...

make all the files available to everyone at the same time. ??? Sounds fine, from a legal view. The question is, what contribution will do the band and the ex-member justice? Is the ex-member just in to have some leverage to get, what the band doesn't want to give him? If the band doesn't want to gi...

if someone asks you to work for free...
We all have been asked, regardless of our profession, the same typical situations - I put together a short list we maybe should give those who ask us. It applies to substandard rates as well. What do you think? What would you reword or add or omit? So you want stuff done for free. I have to make a f...

I had a talk with the Palmer guys and I can demo the "Drei" in a shop half an hour drive from here... but based on my experience with Palmer gear (DI boxes, signal splitters, etc.etc.) I think I'll have to buy another amp. I asked the Palmer engineer if he knew something about the secret behind the ...

I once got a broken Jecklin (not the electrostat version) pair of headphones and put the working capsule (nearly 2 inches diameter!)in a soapbox with some holes and a XLR connector. Made everything sound boooooom - it was the only thing you could put in front of a Marshall valvestate that made it re...

I wonder if there isn't a more subconscious argument going on concerning the hierarchy of the deliverance of ideas and/or performances. It's called upbringing. The topic is unpopular, most because mainstream western education leaves the map white here and not because it's a mystery or hasn't been t...

My advice is dead simple, but it requires isolation headphones. Hold the mic while wearing these headphones, hear what the mic hears in your headphones and try different positions, if you like the tone of your amp in the room it should take you less than five minutes to find the point for your mic w...

Maybe I'll try to bite off a bigger bit than I'll be able to digest or even chew but... you named the fact that unplanned things presented them later in a form that could have been a plan "accident", others maybe chaos. Let's rest words because as we've seen it just leads to a tangent where everybod...
