Re: Effect Pedal Decisions: Delay & Reverb
I hate Line 6, but I have to say that the DL4 sounds pretty good. You get tap tempo with that as well, which you might find to be really useful if you play out live.

Re: Cymbal Glare
In a similar thread someone suggested that when you are tracking the drums, give the drummer mostly the Overheads in his cans. Give him very little kick and snare. This way he will really have to smack his drums nice and hard but lay back on the cymbals to get the sounds he wants. One of the more i...

Re: Nina Nastasia
The music is mighty cool, the production is excellent, but I'm sorry man...she just sucks. Reminds me of Edie Brickell, but on depressants. Hey, can't blame you man. There's all kinds of over-hyped shit that I just can't latch onto as well: Fiery Furnaces Interpol The Shins Everybody thinks that th...

Nina Nastasia
Has anyone heard "Blackened Air" by Nina Nastasia?
Holy shit that record sounds good.
"Ocean" is about the most awesome song ever: Huge dynamic range, killer drum sound, strings, and a saw solo (I think?). Not to mention the song itself.
That Steve Albini sure knows what he's doing.

Re: Free tracktion...ehhh
yeah...it's ok if you have absolutely no other multitracking software to speak of.
or if you're poor.
otherwise, I think you're better off using something else, because it seems to be a shit sandwich in my opinion.

What about Peak?
I never use it, but all the other mac folks are crazy about it for some reason.

Re: Viva Voce "The Heat Can Melt Your Brain"
I saw them live, and I thought they were sorta boring. It's like the time I saw the Fiery Furnaces. I was like, "wow...these guys are good musicians. people are digging this. I am so bored. I'm going to go back to the bar and start pounding old styles." I should check out their record though. Maybe ...

Re: Blow out sale!!
touche.
I buy all sorts of crap that nobody wants in order to come up with my trashy sounds.
However, I did find it odd that you put this up right after the little analog/digital debate thing in the forum. I would've waited a couple weeks.

Re: my rhythm tracks suck
I don't use reason, so I don't know exactly what you can do. Some suggestions: If there's some way to randomize volume on your drum hits, just a slight bit, it'll sound more realistic. If there's a way to humanize your sequences, where the hits aren't completely quantized, sometimes very slightly ah...

Logic isn't harder to use than digital performer.
Just different.
Both are great.
the new logic 7 is pretty rad though...
