I don't buy these kind of statements without a much more clearer statement of what was being listened to in what situation and using what equipment. steve, you can chose to believe whatever is convenient for you, Im not selling anything. If you are ever out this way I can try to dig out the refs an...

I would rather have a rowboat in the desert than 8 channels of chandler anything. Even the shittiest rowboat is made well enough. the greatest thing that will effect your summing is going to be, duh, your summing. Not all mixers and such are created the same. You want to really have the best soundin...

I went through a similar nightmare mastering a record a while back where the ME burned a CD the day of the session and then 3 months later burned a CD from the same file stored on the same drive with the same burner plugged in with the same cable on the same media written on with the same marker put...

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions. By the way, I play humbuckers through a tube amp, pop/rock stuff. I want a nice full but clear, articulate tone. I really just need something to reference so we don't go waaay too bright or waaay to bassy, etc. I'll see how much of the stuff y'all have suggested...

I wasnt trying to be semantically correct. you track the record. you mix it. you give the mixes to the guy cutting the laquers and he masters it. or you track the record. you mix it. you give the mixes to the mastering guy and get CDs. am I missing a step? what the hell is premastering? is that some...

That is a response you give to someone when they ask you to remix something for thr 12th time and you dont give them that response, you just tell them you cant work with them and give them their money back. jesus. Call me cr...

uh, vinyl mastering is done when the laquers are cut... send them your masters and let them do their job. Same process you'd go through for the cd.

the main difference for me usually translates as speed and more importantly where something will sit in a mix.

I recently got a few of those and am actually quite impressed with the eq. I much prefer the sound of it to the soundcraft and ward beck stuff I have used. If you need a parametric, thats another story, but I wouldnt necessarily run towards something like ward beck thinking its gonna be like, way be...
