Re: Underwhelmed by ATMOS music (So far)
my friend did a Dolby Atmos seminar at Sweetwater this last weekend, he stated they told him that its going to help get people "back into the big studios" (of which i am extremely skeptical). to me it seems Dolby and others are creating solutions for needs that don't exist in service of their declin...

Re: Bass and octaves and low end
you could have the bass VI player use an octave pedal, if they are chording then it's gotta be digital (ehx pog), if it's single notes you can use any of the analog ones (boss oc 2, mxr, etc)

Re: Buying Ebog gear
these are no scammers, it is a common business practice in japan for these "middlemen". the items are listed in shops in Japan, they use the stock photos or take their own pics and list them on ebay/reverb for whatever price they want. if you buy it, they go and haggle with the shop and buy it then ...

Re: Latest Gear You've Un-Acquired....
I recently let go an A Designs REDDI tube DI. Everyone says how amazing they are for bass but it just didn't do it for me. It was just OK. I prefer my Radial active DI. The REDDI is supposed to be an Ampeg B15 in a DI. So if you don't dig that sound, that makes sense. I sold mine too, i prefer just...

Re: February RPM Challenge 2023
thank you for posting this. I might partake. I need some motivation, I haven't felt the urge to record in a while, i'm playing out Live a lot so this seems like the sort of thing i need to get off my butt and make music.

vvv you seem to be the lead mortician on the forum here starting the majority of these RIP threads. big jeff beck fan here, love his 70's fusion records (blow by blow, wired, live with jan hammer group, there and back), his use of the whammy/tremolo bar is unparalleled, dude could make his guitar sp...

i'm with you, i sold a lot on reverb and was dreading that tax bill/burden of proving sales at loss.digitaldrummer wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 9:33 amright I think this should apply to Reverb too - and I did a lot on Reverb this past year (liquidating my brother's estate) so I will be happy not to receive a 1099...

great news, but also yeah not fair to us in the middle or lower socioeconomic brackets. hopefully reverb doesn't do it either (they said they would).

Re: Outbox vs. Sent Messages?
i had issues with this a long time ago and it was explained to me this way:
a message once sent goes to the outbox, it only will go to the Sent Messages folder once it is read by the other user. So if it sits in the Outbox it means they haven't read it, or their inbox is full.

i bought a new pinch roller from Athan on ebay or Reverb. Thing is they use a proprietary blend so you HAVE to use their cleaner on it, barring that they have a great reputation.

Re: Cheap Spring Reverb Solution Volume IV - Budget Consumer Equipment (FOSTEX 3180)
i'm using a 1980 Roland RV-100 (same as the Boss RX-100, just re-badged), it's a nice unit and is quiet. i like it a lot better than the Fostex 3180 i used to own.
