she's a fantastic singer alright! i don't hear no autotuners on her songs! and she's awesome at doing harmony overdubs- i imagine there's a gazillion tracks of harmonies etc to choose from when they mix the songs. for that particular song you mention, i know that it was co-written by raine maida, a ...

yoko ono indeed supervised the remixing of the albums. it also says remastered though that's sort of irrelevant to say since it was remixed. anyhow, the first album (my fave) sounds great, and they couldn't tinker with it much anyway since the heaviness and f/x were pretty much printed to tape. howe...

Re: bad master philosophy

sucks to hear that that happened. its happened to me before, and its certainly frustrating when everything is labelled and there are easy to follow instructions for them yet they fuck it up. makes all that meticulous effort go to waste which is sad. hell, i've even had it happen with the printing of...

'shade and honey' was on the laurel canyon soundtrack. i wonder if it's the same version or if it's been reworked at all.

likely a reworking- he's pretty good at doing that!

i reckon allmusic.com would have the precise answers in terms of where/etc? all i remember is that most of their records, except for their last one from a couple years ago, were self-produced, and sometimes aided in the mixing stage at some big studio in LA with a name mixer. but for the most part, ...

i myself noticed a reasonable improvement in sound when i first transfewrred a digital recording to analog. it was something recorded on adat, and i mixed it down to 2 tracks of a teac 1/4" 4-track. then i took the mix from that and transferred it to cd-r and dat. it, well, helped make it appear to ...

of course 'Never Say Die, and 'Born Again' are almost as BAD! actually i think never say die is a pretty damn good album- at least the first half of it. the recording is bad though. they did it in toronto at a then new huge studio, but its terribly out of phase sounding. the one i think is terrible...
