P.S., in the latter bounce to disc method, you have to tell the program which track you want it to bounce from, by specifying the output to which it is routed. It makes a lot more sense when you're looking at the program.

***Greetings! That is the correct way to consolidate the tracks. DP versions before 7 create SDII files- I use batch processing in Peak to convert them to Wave or AIFF files. Ask the engineer to be sure to label the tracks correctly, and if there are multiple versions of a track, to indicate which o...

***Upon reading the original post more carefully- we do have a pair of the 840's here, and they sound good enough to mix on, I'd say- though personally I rarely use phones for mixing other than spot checking. The SRH 840's are expensive enough that I got mostly SRH440's for general use, planning to ...

***My six new pairs arrived yesterday. They definitely sound better than the Fostex T20's I've been using forever- I just got tired of them developing spinning earpieces and breaking. The 440's have a great bass response and they're very comfortable. They are quite soundproof, which can be good or b...

***The Furman QN-44 works great, four devices in one rackspace. Better than the QN-4, since it has attack and release controls. Both should be very cheap these days. Old Kepexes are cool. You can't get better than the Aphex 612 and 622 gates, which are stereo/dual mono. They work just right, and hav...

"From the Basement"- amazing listening/watching

***Here's a very interesting site with live performances shot live in HD, good sound. If it's really in a basement, it's one hell of a basement populated with U47's and Coles 4038's... and Radiohead, Beck, QOTSA, The Shins, Fleet Foxes... http://www.fromthebasement.tv/ Enjoy! -MR Mark Rubel Pogo Stu...

Laser Microphones

***So, here are the beginnings of an interesting type of microphone technology: http://www.smartplanet.com/business/blog/smart-takes/mp3-inventor-develops-laser-microphone-that-eliminates-interference/1091/ Microphones with no diaphragm, no mass, no resonance. ***Friday, Sept. 4th 2009- the night of the Sound Workshops! Joel, is that the official word for a gathering of engineer/producers/geeks?:

A pride of lions
A pod of whales
An exaltation of larks
A neverthriving of jugglers
A conference of recordists

Cheers!
