Well, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to know that maybe I convinced somebody to not give one red cent to Waves. So thank you ! After re-reading one of Professor's posts about the Digi EQIII plug-in, I've been giving it a try. It is quite good! Wish it took up a little less screen real estate, b...

Thanks guys. I never really liked the sound of the Q series either, I just found it to be a really effective notch filter. I must say, however, that I was rather fond of the Renaissance EQ. And the Renaissance compressor, actually. And the RVox was sometimes just the thing for that really crushing t...

Alternatives to Waves Q10

I am leaving Waves behind forever (for what by now are obvious reasons), and am slowly finding replacement plug-ins that are just as good or better (and WAY cheaper). One thing I miss about the Q10, though, is the ability to REALLY zoom in on a particular frequency with a super high Q. I mostly work...

Check the machine when you are punching in - is the "Assemble" button lit up? Are just tracks 3 and 4 armed, or are 1 and 2 armed as well?

Need some more info - how are you transferring your audio? Are you locking to ProTools, to a DAT, etc? There are buttons on the left side of the face of the Digibeta that correspond to audio tracks 1, 2, 3, 4 (as well as the video and timecode track). When they are lit up, they are armed. With audio...

Unfortunately, you will indeed have to buy hardware to run the software. You can get the Mbox Mini new for about $300. Comes with the newest version of ProTools. Or you can pick up the original Mbox from ebay - probably for around $50 or so. That will come with an older version of ProTools. If you w...

flippin'

Unfortunately, you'll have to assign a plug-in to the track you want to flip. I usually just use the "trim" plug in - there's a little phase switch on the top right. Most EQ plug-ins, including the Digi ones, should have a phase flip on there somewhere.

With the Q, you can dial in a very high Q (narrow frequency), great for surgical stuff. But I would agree that the Q sounds a little "cold" compared to the REQ. The REQ has a variable slope on the low and high pass filters, whereas I believe the Q's filters are fixed.

That should absolutely work. We do this with NoNoise all the time where I work. Four rooms, one ilock. Whoever needs it boots up with it in. We can even pull it out while we're working and put it in another computer. As long as you don't have to restart ProTools on the first computer, you're fine. A...
