I think #3 is cool. You're doing a good job. Listen to Bear vs. Shark 'Terrorhawk'. That recording is fucking cool, and these guys have that feel. I could see where 'beefy' came from. Maybe don't shy away from 200-500, if in fact that's any concern in your tracks/mix. Slam that lower shit, they'll l...

You mean you don't have an upper-low-mids presence knob? What the hell kind of studio are you running?

I label mine 'Beef'.

Don't know if this will help any but.....EZDrummer definitely suffers from latency, so I've never been able to use it for monitoring while the drummer plays. However, if you can get a reasonable sound out of your brain and just run that as your monitor from the audio outs on brain while getting your...

"BEYERDYNAMIC MCE 91 July 2005?beyerdynamic's MCE 91 ($649) electret cardioid condenser mic has a gentle rise in response at 2 kHz that facilitates clear, detailed voice reproduction. Its high-SPL capability allows it to be used in a wide range of vocal applications. The mic can be phantom powered u...

I know there was a thread around here recently about auto-tune and its uses but I'm not sure this technique ever got addressed.

How the hell do they do that? Using MIDI mapping with auto-tune and manually making a melody line that's all fucked up?

More a matter of taste probably, but I wasn't a huge fan of the delayed male voice. I can see that line needing some sort of effect, but that seemed a bit much. Ditto on the slide guitar. I thought the verb was overpowering and super boxy. That all nit picky stuff though. I really like the song and ...

All I can say is "Wow." These little Beyer's are pretty darn amazing. Big things really can come in small packages. Depth, detail and zero hype.

I've tried drum room mics - outstanding. Piano - outstanding. Acoustic guitar and singing - outstanding. I think its love.

I have the MIC200. Basically the same thing without the blending options. Bought it, tried it once and shelved it for 5 years. The hiss was unbearable. A few months back, I had an AMPEREX AT7 that I decided to try. This thing is DEAD quiet now. I really have to push the gain and output but with no n...

Finally tried 88.2k....ugh. Help?

I've been at 48k for 5 years now, and finally decided to give 88.2k a try. After I figured out to raise the buffer, the recording went smoothly. I definitely noticed more detail in the high freqs. Overall, my impression is that all the high freq. info was much smoother and airy. Good stuff. However,...

Classic.
