Now that orders are long caught up, they ship pretty fast. There may be a slow week in early November (around the 9th) as we are having a book launch party at a studio in London, and no one will be around to ship for a few days. But it's nothing like it was; most in-US orders arrive in 3 days or so....

Walter Sear, and props to the people who admitted they hated it and still listed it. I loved it and agree with him about so many things. I look forward to more controversial articles in the future. People who "lead" by doing something different are far more inspiring (either way) than those who succ...

I never get tired of Trident information, email me sometime and we'll talk. You'll probably know most of what's in the Trident section we wrote then, but interesting to see how it compared to what was around... Some good pics are in there you might like too!

If your amp "clips" (distorts) the power tubes (not just the preamp) then it can get no louder. That's MAX output from the head. However, Speakers with greater "sensitivity" may give you more output. Unless theyare already clipping themselves; then they are maxed out, too. Impedance is not that big ...

BY FAR, my favorite engineer or producer of all time.

You're also forgetting the Fleetwood Mac records he did! He's been "retired" for some time now, but I would kill to interview him about approach and things. His music has defined guitar rock...

The answer (as for most Beatles things) is that it varied - all the time. If nothing else - they were good at "changing" (the MAIN lesson to learn overall!) Some tracks seem to have used J160E plugged in (especially early on), but often they just miced it. Most tracks - no one knows. Only rarely can...

Actually, Abbey Road are releasing studio equipment, as you know their TG stuff is very popular.

As there are quite a few items in the book that they own, and they do plan releases to make some of it. As the Altecs are SO impossibly rare, I'd bet it's one item likely to get made eventually.

Ah - welcome to the US Postal service... For example, delivery times to the same California area have varied between 1 and 5 days with books that left Texas the same day. The books ship in order, hundreds a day. There is (literally) no time to reference single orders these first two intense weeks, a...

The pre-ordered copies are the only ones signed and numbered - a limited edition. This "Deluxe" version means it has a box/slip-case and the goodies included. You can only order this version now, as the first 1000 numbered & signed ones sold out some time ago... we only use this terminology as in th...

I'd suggest finding something close and padding the inside. This is your cheapest route. Otherwise, building makes you a worse case, for about as much money, if you do it right. If you do a crummy plywood and nails case, it will be cheap, but it will only work a little. A REAL flight case is somethi...

UREI designed it, JBL built it. Here's the info: The 7110 is a GREAT compressor. I have used ALL the classics, and sometimes the 7110 is The One that works. It does not have stellar sonics (loses a tiny bit of high and low end - so do 1176, dBX and and others, btw) but it does SOUND good. Nice thick...

The books are on a boat, traveling gradually to the United States from Hong Kong harbor. Once they get here, they have to clear customs, then get packed for shipping, addressed and sent out. We look forward to your comments and what you found exciting about the book...

I hear it works best not to FILL the drum, but just cover the bottom 1/4 or so with a layer. This way the drum breathes a lot more and it does stop some overhanging ring of the head.

Lenny Kravitz tried this with popcorn once (I'v e heard).
