Re: Tips for Dumping 388 > M-Track 8 > Garage Band

it's weird to me that all your tracks are peaking at zero on the channels and the master is not over - sounds like something might be limiting the signal at 0dBFS in your computer but like I said I have no idea about garage band and don' know the program material so it's hard to say that might cause...

the Kali Audio speakers - people love them - they have a lot of options on the back for tuning them to how they're setup in a room

Re: Level Standards For Music For Film

before even trying to make it impactful and dynamic and all that the number one concearn is the intelligibility of the dialog ideally a theater mix will be done in a theater control room that's set up and leveled at the theater standard - you just mix right up into that completely intuitively if it'...

Re: Tips for Dumping 388 > M-Track 8 > Garage Band

I hear ya - clipping converters can be terrible - but it really does work in some situations and can even be a more transparent option than some limiters

Re: Mixing a band with a single, mono electric guitar

as far as making a natural recording with one guitar - my super simple approach producing: I'll work from a demo and assess the arrangement to see what happens - then make a lot of notes and find the spots if any that are problems for translating into a record - then pick the right instruments that ...

Re: Tips for Dumping 388 > M-Track 8 > Garage Band

There's another thing I am just now noticing.... On the initial recording in question I was able to set the master on my garage band at 0db without any clipping. I think I was confused about something. It seems my initial transfer was done "properly." But I'm noticing something new... I have some o...

Re: Tips for Dumping 388 > M-Track 8 > Garage Band

mastering engineers often clip ADC's (or software or analog outboard) to get a limiting effect that preserves the transient punch rather than using a limiter that will usually soften it / impart its particular unique artifacts - it's a good combination of the two in careful doses (or none of the ab...

Re: Tips for Dumping 388 > M-Track 8 > Garage Band

If you're getting the results you're after more power to you ! Again If you read what the OP is telling us you'll see this isn't a flat transfer question - they seem to be multi outputting off the 388, having problems with the master buss clipping and overall apparent volume with the 8 summed tracks...

Re: Mixing a band with a single, mono electric guitar

surprising to hear people suggest using two amps etc. etc. etc. when it's stated that band wants to sound like themselves Of course it doesn't happen without the band knowing what's going on. I don't use it to re-invent the sound of the band but to translate the sheer force of a show into something...

Re: tube amp debugging (jet city 20 watt combo)

I'm not an expert on this stuff either but it's usually easy to fix once you find the spot

did you check the fuse?

the power supply filter cap/s might be bad ?

Re: Tips for Dumping 388 > M-Track 8 > Garage Band

1) make the 388 sound however you like it the best regardless of anything 2) properly connect the 388 to the ADC (interface) if it's all unbalanced connections use the shortest best quality cable if the interface is balanced input only you'll need to convert it with a transformer on each line for i...

Re: Mixing a band with a single, mono electric guitar

surprising to hear people suggest using two amps etc. etc. etc. when it's stated that band wants to sound like themselves maybe take a note from Albini in cases like this? take a good "audio photograph" of what they do and don't mess around with their sound - learn how to capture it just as they do ...
