I'm not specifically trying to spend a lot of money although I'm willing to. Basically I just want to buy ONE tube preamp that will be great for vocals, violin, and acoustic guitar. I don't want to go for something midrange, and then decide in a few years that I want to buy something better and that...

No more opinions on tube pres? I'd really appreciate some more viewpoints before I take the plunge, especially since they're quite expensive. I did a search through the archive and didn't find too many posts regarding them. The ones I did find I've read repeatedly already. Can I assume that not many...

TUBE PRE: DW Fearn VT-1 or Manley Dual Mono Mic Pre or Other
I'm looking to get a tube preamp to supplement my neve and api sounds. What are people's favorite tube pres? Who can compare and contrast the Fearn VT-1 and the Manley Dual Mono? The tube pres will be used for vocals, acoustic guitar, and violin. Thanks for the help.

I heard that the emt works better when surrounded by pink bras (or at least I do.) Actually though that is my girlfriend's bra. She sees me reading this message board quite frequently and is now officially embarrassed. On a related story, she'll be at the TapeOpCon in room #205. Knock twice to see t...

EMT 258 - noise filter ANY INFO?
I received an extra emt 258 noise filter on ebay when I purchased a pair of neumann pev's. Does anyone know anything about this unit? It is listed as a noise filter/expander. I searched the web on google and didn't find much info, although one studio discribed it as a "truly amazing device". jcooke

API 560 vs. 560b
has anyone a/b'd these two eq's? What's the difference, and why would one be preferable to another?

5 drum tracks, 1 COMPRESSOR. Techniques?
I've been wondering about what people do to compress drums. ?I have one distressor in my rack so compressing them in real time is not possible.
Do you record all your drum tracks and then compress them one at a time by reamping? Do you compress the whole mix?
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Jcooke

Thanks for the info. ANyways, here's the official reply from the guy at vintage city. I'm going to go ahead and order from him so I hope he speaks the truth. It will save me $500 which is nice. Hi Jeremy, yes ... my racks are cheaper and ... better :.- ) Please note that my racks will come with an e...
