Like I said...it takes practice. Its important to continue the spiral motion when moving the eraser away from the tape.....and yes, you should be able to do a more thorough job by contacting the reel directly, not through the box. It is also a good idea to turn on the eraser before you contact the r...

USTF! Truly a subject that has been covered several times in previous threads. Gotham always gets high praises from the people who use professionally. Belden is a trusted name that has been used in pro applications for years. Gepco, another good brand. Redco sells a variety of good quality stuff. Sp...

With practice, the rumble can be avoided. As you are erasing the tape you should be contacting the reel, passing the magnet over the reel in a circular motion. Erase both sides of the reel. The rumble or whoomp is caused by turning the eraser off when it is still contacting or close to the reel of t...

It also helps to high pass the bass at 45 to 60 hz. This frees up a lot of low frequency energy to be used elsewhere in the mix & really makes the kick stand out.

I use a small wooden shipping pallet which I put a piece of carpet on top of. It elevated the amp between 4" & 6" & keeps it from coupling with the floor while making it marginally easier to hear.

"I don't care who you are, there is tube information on ebay that you don't already know. Actually, the more you know, the more info you can derive from pics on ebay. Of course, a lot of the text is insane jibber jabber but photos don't lie. " On this, I will agree...I own several hundred tubes of a...

Older re-branded tubes did exist. Tung Sol made some power tube re-brands for RCA. RCA made tubes branded Silvertone for Sears, Magnavox for their brand, McIntosh for their brand & others. GE & Mullard....in fact, most tube manufacturers re-branded tubes for specific manufacturers. Radio Shack bough...

I have six PM1000 pre's racked up. I like them a lot. I re-capped with Nichicon FM caps & swapped out the transistors for modern, lower noise Motorola as suggested (check the pin out on the Motorola...it is not the same as the original & must be oriented correctly...no problem as long as you pay att...

Fostex stopped supporting this machine about 10 years ago....no parts available from them.....heck, they wouldn't even return my email. Your best source for parts is going to be a doner machine. Mine sounded ok, but not really that great & in my opinion, not worth investing in to keep it up & runnin...
