Re: amps vs. simulators

yes honestly proper touring amps and cabs are just for show, because any decent venue (even small ones) the crowd doesn't hear the amp, they hear the PA/FOH and those speakers and what the FOH person does. So it's mostly a vanity thing. Even when i was touring i was In Ears and the amp sometimes i f...

Re: amps vs. simulators

Nice cabs! If I was ever playing bass live again on a regular basis, I think I'd build a little posse of individual 10's I could stack up. As a live sound guy I've found the smaller the bass amp, the better the sound for the audience. i have found the issue is all the ported cabs. they have just wa...

Re: rotating speaker alternative

analog options Dynacord CLS-22 or CLS-222 - These were made in the 80's and are stereo with options to adjust the width of the stereo spread. Also you can adjust the speed of the Bass and Treble rotors. I have one and it sounds great. digital options neo ventilator - simply the best digital emulator...

Re: amps vs. simulators

these are perfect for smaller tours or overseas tours where you can't fly with much due to costs and don't want to rent backline (expensive) and can travel in smaller vehicles (save money). Bass has always been able to just DI and it's fine, use monitors (venue provides) or In Ears. Same with keyboa...

Re: amps vs. simulators

simulators are a necessity for me. i record as a hobby and do it at night after my spouse and kids are in bed so for me Amp in a Boxes are vital because i can't mic stuff up. I'm still using mostly pedals for that (doing all analog recording) and using eq and reverb to help it out.

Jalen Ngonda - Come Around and Love Me

This is my record of the year. It sounds like a 1970 Motown offering, the production is outstanding, songwriting catchy as hell. Just a wonderful record that is enjoyable on every track, every playback.

Re: Tax stuff — some big deduction available in 2023?

my tax guy says sure declare it as a deduction but when you sell you need to declare that sale as well. we all know how much gear moves in/out, so most of the stuff i don't deduct.

Re: Moving Gear

I appreciate the advice. I do set my store as no returns, and I always require a signature and do reverb protection. I wasn’t aware that protection worked as you describe. You are saying that if my buyer decides something is broken - and it’s certainly not shipping related (everyone who has bought ...

Re: Moving Gear

reverb. turn off make offer. set your price. set your store settings as no returns allowed. list as Vintage SOLD AS IS. ALWAYS PAY FOR REVERB PROTECTION WHEN YOU SELL, IT'S THE LAST OPTION WHEN YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE SHIPPING LABEL. selling as is keeps the tire kickers away and let's people know don...

Re: In-ear Monitors (IEMs)

i have custom molded Future Sonics. they are a great company started by the guy who created IEM, the OG Marty Garcia (he made them for Todd Rundgren). I got them back when i toured a lot and i would send them in for repair and they would update the drivers and fix any issues at no cost and ship them...

Re: Bandcamp sold, again

https://pitchfork.com/news/epic-games-sells-bandcamp-amid-layoffs/ so they were owned by Epic Games, a video game company famous for Fortnite (a video game) and Unreal Engine (a graphics engine used to create games). They have been sold to Songtradr some music licensing company. My personal thoughts...
