Definitely very cool, but at the same time (call me LAME), I would be worried about getting caught and taken away for trespassing and having my stuff "confiscated", never to be seen again.

That said, if you do it, let us hear (about) the results!

You've got some good tips so far, the only thing I think you may want to consider on top of the microphone(s), pre, and ProTools hardware/software is something like this: http://www.realtraps.com/p_pvb.htm This could be a serious tool for you if you are planning on doing most of your recording in a ...

yeah, who tunes these things up? i've got one that's mostly there, but would fully dig it if it were 100%... From my understanding you can just hook it up to a tuner and tune by adjusting the pots under the hood. This is from: http://www.combo-organ.com/Rheem/index.htm "Tuning is accomplished via t...

FS: MiJam Drummer drum sticks. $15 shipped.

Hey guys, My sister-in-law bought these for me for Christmas this year. I thought they were pretty cool because I used to have these things called "hit sticks" when I was little that were totally rad and these reminded me of them. Well, the novelty kind of wore off. They've been sitting on the shelf...

I gotta say, I like the super roomy drums quite a bit. The snare decay is bonkers... Matt has been doing amazingly cool things with the samples I sent him. I can't comment on what he has done to tweak them, but he has only made them sound better. All off the samples were recorded off of a 1965 (red...

Are they plugged into a socket with anything else in your audio chain? Have you tried plugging them into a different outlet? Could it be a bad/faulty/dying powersupply? That might lead to sporadic outages. Maybe it is something as silly as the on/off switch going bad or making poor contact. Does any...

Some of them. There is a lot of info on modding these mics. Google it and you will find it. There was even an artical in tape op IIRC... maby not... I'm pretty sure the article you are thinking of was the one in Recording magazine. It was a D.I.Y. article written by Scott Dorsey all about how to mo...

Definitely try to get a hold of a copy.
I'd recommend it to anyone regardless of whether they are a fan of Fugazi or not. I think it's just a great film.

Another you might want to look into, which was just brought up again recently in another thread, is Carl Saff ( http://www.saffmastering.com/ ). I'm not sure about his rates, but Massive Mastering ( http://messageboard.tapeop.com/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=4503 ) seems to be easy enough to talk ...

I haven't listened to this in a while but I'm pretty sure it's just a "gang vocal" take in a fairly live room. If you are manipulating a single vocal I don't think you are going to be able to get the type of effect you are looking for. By overdubbing the same vocal (assuming it is just one vocalist)...

I completely understand that. That is probably what has also kept me from plunging in and just charging it. I have more than enough mic pre's right now just seemed like the modified PR8E was a great deal on a really solid sounding amp for a total price of less than many single channels available. Th...

Have you considered the SM Pro PR8E? You can pick one up new for about $100 if you search hard enough and Black Lion Audio are back to doing the mods. So figure $100 or so for the PR8E + the $365 for the BLA modification and a few bucks for shipping and you are at or under $500 and have 8 channels o...

Mixing out of the box with MOTU 828mkII and SONAR (3.1.1)

Hey guys, So I've mainly used the mixers I have had for getting the sounds into the computer and mixing completely in the box. I've really been wanting to break some things out and mix using the mixer! Well, I've never gotten further than stereo mixes because I can't figure out how. I'm using SONAR ...
