Hey People,
So, I want to buy a turntable. A good one, but not TOO good ($$). I'm thinking <$250 or so...
Obviously, I'm not interested in audiophile gear, just something that works well and sounds good. What do you all use and like? Technics? Other?
Thanks,
JZ

TDIF PCI Interfaces?
Hi All, Am I missing something? After searching for quite some time, it seems to me that there are VERY few pci interfaces that support tdif. I see the MOTU 2408, but what else is there? I have a Tascam DA38 on the way to me in the mail, and I'm having a "Maybe I should've thought of that before I f...

Hey Mike, You know, I feel maybe I should've reserved the comments frequency range balance, as I've only listened on consumer comp. 2.1 speakers and headphones through my 896, not on either monitors or through a home stereo. I think I do remember having similar thoughts about the demo being a little...

Here are a few thoughts: Drums: I see what you mean about ?leaning? on the close mics on the kit. It?s just a preference thing, but ...

Re: Drummers- high hat stand adjustment
Pretty much everything having to do with drum equipment set up is very personal to each individual. That said, the guidelines you mention above sound good starting points. Really, the first consideration should be the actual placement of the stand, and the height of the cymbals. Generally speaking, ...

Re: Some help with a WM-61a (tapeop omni cartridge) please!
Check out the data sheet at: http://www.panasonic.com/industrial/components/pdf/em06_wm61_a_b_dne.pdf The contacts are very small and you'll have to do some fine soldering with a sufficiently hot soldering tip. If it's not hot enough, (say 700 f), you can damage the cartridge (by heating contacts to...

SONY Lavalier Mic...
Ok everybody, I have a Sony lav. mic with a wire hanging out the back of it, and nothing else. Anyone know where I can find some info. about building the power supply that's supposed to be on the other end? I've inspected spec. sheets and there 's a 1.5v aa involved in most of these types. Any ideas...

It's so not creative that it is creative. And even if it's not, Tape Op is "the creative RECORDING magazine", not "creative user-name naming magazine".

Re: recording an orchestra
I've never run a mobile recording business, but you may offer to record over a certain period, free. This mostly because it sounds like you'll really be learning as you go, as opposed to being able to immediately offer your best, professional results. Of course you don't have to tell them you're lea...
