juan id recomend micing recording the way you've already tried (especially if you like the results already. try busing the drums and applying a tonne of compression to this track... radical eq curve and then run a verb on this track... ride this under the main drums to taste... can get you those dou...

persoanlly i always come back to my tried and trusted MXR distortion +.. sounds great on pretty much everything from vocs to bass to synths and of course guitar. i tend to record direct into my mic pre or board ( usually prefering a clean "funk" tone) and throwing the mxr on there can really rip. i ...
