WTB: Klark Teknik DN405 Parametric Equalizer

Just snagged a demo model of the new Cloud R44 copy. AT4050 on the way. Thoughts on useful dynamics. I've got a pair of 57s, an other must haves? Keep in mind, no drum recording. SM7, RE2020, any others?

I think I'm gonna go with the AT4050. It seems alot of people say it doesn't have a lot of character but works on alot of sources. That's what I need now and then I can start adding mics with character.

Why's that?

Has anyone done this? I was wondering if it's okay to take a ribbon mic with low output into a clean pre to boost the level some and then into a colored pre operating at it's best level. Any problems with this setup?

Is anyone with a really nice well maintained tape machine and great converters offering a tape "rinsing" service? Let's say it's a standard 3-4 minute pop/rock song with standard instrumentation. How many hours does that translate to?

How do you charge for freelance audio editing? If a producer brought you a track to prepare to mix (pocketing, cleaning, etc.) How would you decide what to charge for this?
