Re: Mac OS X recordists speak up!
I've started using the Digi 002r on my mac with OS 10.2 and no problem so far. Haven't got into heavy recording yet but so far so good. Any one seen the G5's.... http://www.apple.com/powermac/ Keep in mind with the upgrade as someone said, OS Panther will be coming out in the near future. Later, Ken

Re: Bob Rock speaks about recording Metallica's St. Anger
I've heard a few of the new songs live via bootlegs and they sound pretty good. Someone needs to pull their head out of their ass.

Re: Bob Rock speaks about recording Metallica's St. Anger
Even though this topic has been done to death I'm gonna add this: New and Fresh? This new album isn't fresh. I understand the point you are trying to make Dave. If the drum edits were better and the pingy snare drum sound removed the record would still sound bad. There are no dynamics what so ever. ...

Re: New Metallica
"I would dare anyone to go and record something that sounds like that, it might be a little more difficult to churn out a record that sits like that than you might think." If I turned out a record like this I would get laughed at, but who am I.. I'm a nobody. With Metallica, they are trying somethi...

Re: New Metallica
I don't feel so bad now with my Mackie board sound now. And what the hell am I doing buying all this other expensive gear??? So Rock is trying to set a precedance of shitty music. C'mon, it's one thing to be tired of the polished sound but to make it sound like total shit, not even polished shit, is...

Re: New Metallica
No Bob "multi-tasker" Rock. Robert "the other Bob" Trujillo is playing during these rehearsals. Which must mean that the DVD was done after the album was recorded.

Re: New Metallica
Ah man, do yourself a favor and watch it. Same songs in same order as the album. Rehearsals of all the songs no stops. Different sound all together. It is good fun.

Re: New Metallica
Have you compared the album track to the same on the DVD? Do you think the DVD is all "real" drums?

Re: New Metallica
If I use a really good pre-amp and fart into a good mic I bet I could make it sound like this Metallica record... Ha-ha, I'm only bustin' your chops Dave. I bought it as well and am really enjoying the DVD that came with it.

Re: New Metallica
I'll agree, I like the sound on the DVD better. Clearer and the guitars are BIG, well bigger than the regular album.

Re: New Metallica
This new album has some great Metallica grooves but the recording.. holy hell, what happened. I know they wanted to get the whole grungy, old school sound but damn. The vocals are right out in front. But the band, where is everything above 3k or are my ears just stopped up? And that annoying ping, p...
