The green bullet is very cool but at 100 bucks is kinda salty. Although if I had one, I'd probably use it on tons of stuff. I love things that sound different.

This is always fun. Anymore you can get good results out of doing this in post. Record the vocals normally and then try wacky things with eq: the easiest instant "am" sound is to just take a hi-pass and sweep it up until it sounds thin enough - like past 1k at least. Also a plug-in like Trash is fun...

Imagine a video camera plugged in to the front of a television to be used as a video monitor. And then taking the camera and pointing it at the screen. Or similarly like holding a 2 mirrors up facing each other. Since you have it armed in record mode, it's live and then causing the sound out of the ...

ask the player. that's what i do if i have something i've not recorded before. they've always had suggestions. have them walk around the room and find a spot where they think it sounds best, go from there... Excellent idea - I had a cello player in here who had a lot to say about his tone. We found...

The prospect of an 003 makes me very angry. There's nothing wrong w/ the 001, or the 002, but Digidesign makes it it so if you want to use the machines you can't upgrade the software past a certain number. My Audio Media III wouldn't use PT past 5.something. My 001 wouldn't go past 6.something. Both...

Re: I don't usually ask this but...(kind of urgent)

I think I'm going to do about 4 tracks to make it feel as if there are more players. This reminds me of that clap track thread where a tape op'r did multiple takes of clap tracks to beef it up. His trick was to do one take in his room with everyone to the left of the mic, 2nd track was everyone in ...

You won't lose any of your plugins - unless for some reason they wouldn't work in OS X? dunno. I did the upgrade and I'm pleased. One of the things that I like best about the software upgrade is the free plug ins that come w/ it (the EQ III is much better than the EQ II as far as flexibility). the 0...

Re: ku

I'm not sure I totally agree with "bleed shmeed". Don't get me wrong, I like bleed in recordings, the bloodier the better, as long as it doesn't cause phase problems or smere the sounds too much. I've not experienced phase problems using this method myself, but maybe I've had but I didn't notice th...

I've been using a matched pair of Oktava MC-012 w/ cardiod capsules in stereo - I also tried a pair of the Naiant omni's w/ good results. Since you're tracking vocals at the same time, you might look into a sdc w/ a tighter pattern - oktavausa.com offers one for the MC-012 - haven't used it myself, ...

I would say as far as the kick goes "ON THE KICK" I think might be a bad idea - especially if it were right by the sound hole. Getting these things repaired (from what I've read here) is not a gimme by any stretch of the imagination. That being said, I recently read where someone liked to use the Sh...
