that's a whole lot of features in a v1 - particularly for a hardware company. I wonder if this is based off of something else from open source world like Ardour.

I'd buy a VST wrapper and start looking for vsts. Anyone have experience with this? http://www.fxpansion.com/index.php?page=15 PT 7 only though....I'd wait til it's 8 compatible, unless you aren't going to upgrade. working in PT8 for me without problems. It is the most inelegant piece of software I...

leigh! This is brilliant! Is this just one hardcore code-a-thon weekend away from adding volumes and solos? Cause if you underhandedly sneak in "any control surface" midi control of volume/mute/solo in Pro Tools you're gonna make some money. I'm so rarely here anymore I missed this the first time. C...

looks like the q80 is only 64k and can only store 10 sysex files. After looking around some more, it would appear the DataDisk wouldn't really even work as it can only story 59 data files. Unless there's something I'm not understanding. Would be plenty for sending banks but I'd like to be able to sn...

That looks perfect. Thanks! Looks like it stores 10 songs. Think that means I can only have 10 different sysex dumps stored at a time? Hopefully it's one per track per song or something.

Small Hardware Sysex storage?

Hi, I'm looking for something like the alesis datadisk that stores a little more than 640k and is hopefully smaller. I have a few mid-80s synths. I'd like to be able to play the extra gagillion available patches via sysex dumps without having to hook them up to my computer. Are there any old-and-use...

Thanks everyone.

Jeremy, I'm not "vintage" charmed at all. I'd rather buy new/local than old/ebay, particularly on a mic I've never heard for myself - all things being equal. 40 years of production lead me to believe all things were not, in fact, equal.

md421 old or new?

Looking to get another dynamic mic and from reading around, I've decided to try out an md421. On ebay, there are a lot of different "vintages" available. Is there one to steer clear of? Particularly tasty vintage? I'm down for new too but with 40 year pedigree, thought I should ask. I do like the lo...

Craig, it's Mele mahogany tenor. Some songs are GCEA some are DGBE. Nice thing about a tenor.

This is me totally just being lazy but maybe you can find an intern to make a "more info" page for each issue with links to the artists/engineers/gear discussed in the mag? "Brought to you by Sweetwater" or Google Adwords or something to help make it feasible/worthwhile.

Unless some one has an electribe, your mic and your voice, I don't think you're going to get an answer worth hearing. The only way to really know is to plug it in and record. If it makes you happy then it's working. If it wont do something you're hoping to hear, then you might start to investigate o...

I'm of the "4k for a line amp????" camp but considering how many people listen to our blood and sweat as 128kbps mp3s, we should be sending flowers to the people who will spend 4k on a preamp just to hear our music and mixes in the best possible way. ok, not my mixes or music but you know what I'm s...
