Re: de-essing at the source...

Damn, Joe! You got a 351? Lucky! Good to see you here, by the way. Try backing the mic off. The other, most obvious option is trying a different mic to match the vocalist, if that's an option for you at all. Otherwise, those dbx 263s are pretty cheap and work GREAT! Garges Thanks Chris- yeah, I got...

Re: 2x12 speaker cab

Vintage 30's are 8ohm speakers (according to the Celestion website) so therefore your cab can be wired for 4 ohms (parallel) or 16 ohms (series). Here's some good info... http://www.webervst.com/sptalk.html As far as custom cab builders, here's a few: http://www.voxshowroom.com/northcoast/ http://ww...

de-essing at the source...

Since getting my Ampex 351 all re-capped and modded, I have been hearing open-ness like never before in my tracks... but on many vocals I'm finding a pretty harsh "S" and "T" problem. Other than putting the mic a bit higher than the mouth and angling it down slightly, are there other techniques for ...

Re: transferring files from mac to mac -help needed

I will soon be making my first attempt at doing this between an OSX powerbook and an OS9 tower. If anyone has done this succesfully, let me know. Thanks. Using FW Target disk mode is not dependent on OS... becuase it makes the machine nothing more than a firewire drive. This is also a very useful w...

Re: transferring files from mac to mac -help needed

easier method (arguably)- assuming both machines have a firewire port, boot one of the machines up holding the T key... this will put it in Firewire Target Disk Mode, and will make the machine booted that way act just like a regular firewire drive. You can then connect the two with a firewire cable ...

Re: phase issue w/ new guitar amp speaker?

i'm no expert, so i may be talking out of my ass, but i do belive that you can wire a single speaker backwards. if you connect the positive wire to the negative speaker lead, that will cause sound to pull the speaker in, instead of push it out. one thing i do when wiring speakers is put a 9v batter...

Re: phase issue w/ new guitar amp speaker?

how many speakers? you can wire a single guitar speaker backwards and if it's the only one in the cab, it will sound fine. but if there are two speakers, yes, you could have them wired backwards. Also, sometimes a cab is wired one way and another cab is wired the other and when they are used in a st...

Cesar Diaz signed Texas Tremodillo on eBay

Guitarists (or engineers who like to reamp through pedals!) I have a killer Diaz Texas Tremodillo on eBay right now starting at $150 with a BIN of $175... this is an older model signed by Diaz himself, before he passed away. It's the swampiest, ampiest, deepest trem I've ever heard! Check it! http:/...
