I'm assuming you should be able to pick one up from any consumer electronics retailers or computer shop. My word of advice is to check with the manufacturers specs. for the firewire device you are buying. I know that MOTU recommended a FireWire card with a T.I. (Texas Instruments) chipset for their ...

Hey guys, Kasey, I know you mentioned you are specifically looking for a vocal mic, but I decided to throw up two of my Oktavamod modded mics when I was doing my warm up today. Please excuse the drumming. I've been playing the drums for years but am really just starting to learn to PLAY the drums. T...

Hi, I can't help you much with troubleshooting the powersupply. You might have better luck over in the D.I.Y. forum. There are a lot of Soundtracs owners around here so you might get more information than you think. On the other hand...Unless it is something you figure out is fairly simple, I'd sugg...

Hey Anthony, I listened to a few of your songs on your myspace web page. Things sound great, especially considering the awful quality of the audio player myspace uses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Audio_Stationary_Head That link should help you get a better understanding of the D/A 48-track ...

Also keep in mind that you can add effectslater in the game... yeah, i just don't like relyng on that after the fact. and a lot of the time it's important for me to be turning the knobs in the process. i'll look into this Bellari MP105. and thanks everyone! Amperite ribbon mics have a red sliding switch on the back that's attached to a piece of cardboard inside so you can mute the back end to varying degrees. I prefer the non-damped sound, but you could experiment with a sheet of cardboard and see if it gives you the sound you want. Didn't some of the...

gobos That'd be what I think too. Make them out of whatever you may have laying around. A mic stand or two and a thick comforter, packing blanket, futon mattress... I don't know about placing a sponge or other material right up on the housing of the microphone though. I don't think that would make ...

I did the 12" speaker as a mic thing with an old speaker I got out of a messed up home stereo full range cabinet. On it's own it more of a special effect mic, but mixed with another it sounds really great on bass amps and kick drums. Works for some guitar sounds. Tons of low end and rolls off pretty...

This is great. I wasn't aware of that. It makes a huge amount of sense to give the Mastering Engineer a good amount of play room. I'm confused by the -15 to -18 range for tracking. What are the advantages of this in the tracking process? Leaving plenty of headroom for potential use of effects or jus...

Just a thought, but what about flush or surface mounting them in the desk like newscasters do? You would be able to have your board smack in the middle of your desk anymore, but if you are doing most of you mixing in the box lately, that should be too big of a deal. Move the board off to the side so...
