New John Parish & Polly Harvey

Just another week or so...I'm pretty excited- Dance Hall at Louse Point is maybe my favorite record EVER. Anyway, the video for the first single from the new one is up over at http://www.nme.com/video. Also, here's an interview I did with John not long ago, that turned out pretty recording-centric: ...

Ha! Nice photo of George. Didn't Paul have an Eggy as his first guitar as well?

Thanks! I like it, but don't really use it enough to warrant keeping it anymore, especially since I'm a little cramped for space these days...

'60s Egmond "Jazzmaster" FS

Hate to part with it, but I have too much stuff and too little money...so before it goes up on evilBay... '60s Egmond "Jazzmaster". I actually found out what this model was really called, but promptly forgot. Anyway, here's what it is: Semi-hollow (yep), covered in black faux leatherette, metal bind...

I knew there was something to it...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-eqBFFZN0Q Check the closeup of Howe's guitar at about 2:45 in... Looks an awful lot like an old deArmond/Gretsch Dyna-Sonic fitted into the soundhole, with pots added right onto the guitar's top. Explains the whole acoustic/not acoustic sound. Still, I'm sure a LOT o...

Of course! I wouldn't dream of using anything of anyone else's without permission...in fact, I've recently been on the other end of a similar situation, a piece of music of mine was used without asking me first or crediting me correctly, and it made me angry enough that I'm not friends with someone ...

Absolutely! I'd love some microphonic tube noise goodness! I have a history of intrument building/ junk intruments/manipulated stuff/etc experimental whatnots myself, and the idea of using an SK-1 and an Opti recording just kinda set the gears in motion for the idea of doing this...I think, ultimate...

Optigan and SK-1, oh my! (or, help my ass out, please...)

Want to do me a really huge favor, just because we're both sweet, kind, creative people? Since I have no access to an Opti in these parts (and believe me, I've tried to track down a working one reasonably close with no luck), and have neither the cash nor inclination for buying software, a controlle...

Also, only semi-relatedly, I just now finally put the two and two together and realized that the Sook-Yin Lee who wrote "Knock Loud" from Canadian Amp is the same lady that was the sort-of main character in the movie Shortbus. Crazy. That song is...that's some good writing, for real.

ipressrecord, Sorry- I didn't intend that to be/sound snarky at all. I'm super-excited too! If you haven't heard it, the kexp thingy she did a couple of weeks or so ago is up over at captainsdead.com, a couple of pages back from the most recent one. It's pretty great! Neko never ceases to amaze me.....

uhm...yeah. Second paragraph of first post? Of course it's gonna be amazing- it's Neko, and the just-her-Paul-and-Kelly-acoustic versions I've heard were just...I don't even know how to put it. Neko's way with words and melody just cut to the bone, in the most beautiful way...example from "Middle Cy...

hmmm...might be onto something with the mention of wire...that thing does look wire recorder-y. In any case,it sounds pretty damn spooky and fun.

WTB: Tatty Fender Vibrolux Reverb, FS/FT '65 BF Bandmaster

So, before I go do something stupid (namely selling way too much stuff I wanna keep) to finance the almost $3K for the ridiculously, gear dork's wet dream, super awesomely mint Blackface Vibrolux I played this weekend, thought I might check ye Olde Tape Op board out before messing with Evilbay... Lo...
