don't know the polarity, but mine didn't have an adapter either, just went to radio shack to get a replacement, and it works fine.

ahhh...echo is so great. i've had a layla for 3 years, and just got a gina cheap. the two work perfectly together. echo's stuff is sooooooooo solid. i love it.
