just picked up tenor madness by sonny rollins and the earth is not a cold dead place by explosions in the sky on vinyl. i'm really glad to be listening to these today on the turntable while i do some internet work and equally glad that i am no longer listening to the sounds of water leaking into my...

I recorded a little ditty today with the uber-ribbon. I just riffed around on my Hammond A-100 and Leslie 145. I had the mic about a foot away from the top rotor and I had the organ up pretty loud, lots of low drawbar, Leslie on full blast. Please excuse the bad riffing, but I think it sounds pretty...

I ship stuff a lot of gear at work and we use UPS. My rule is just make sure nothing moves when you shake it. 2-3 inches around of bubbles if possible, and fill in the rest with peanuts, old newspapers, etc. To me, the extra weight of some packing materials may cost a little more to ship, but it see...

I like the Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter, but the one I used to have was a bit noisy. It was pretty old and beat when I got it, so I'm sure a good cleaning-out or some basic troubleshooting would have eliminated it. I have a Keeley two-knob now, and I like it for a lot of stuff. The 4-knob is prett...

I'm pretty sure I played a Pathfinder a couple weeks ago and was surprised at how good it sounded. The overdrive or distortion or whatever didn't do much for me, but the clean was great. It's a little vox with tremolo and overdrive, right? I would love to see trem and verb in the ac4 but i understan...

Vox AC4TV I'm interested to hear your thoughts on that little fella. I've been thinking a lot lately about snagging a small low-watt amp like that. I really like it so far. I was surprised at how loud the 4-watt setting really is. It sounds great with my G&L ASAT semi-hollow, and my LP. It cleans u...

The second one looks like both a 312 clone and a 1176 compressor built into one unit. I haven't seen a 312 before, there are pics of BAE 312 modules online, but I don't know how close they are to the actual ones, though they do look cool. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can find one on www.recordin...
