I've looked the interent over and cannot find the pinout to the mic. I did find a site that is selling a Turner 510 that actually comes with a 4-pin to 3-pin XLR mic cable and two hand written diagram on wiring the mic for a 3-pin. There is a pic of one of the diagrams on the website. I have it belo...

wiring old mic (4-pin to 3-pin XLR)
I have an old Turner 510 dynamic that has a 4-pin XLR out. it's the smiley face 4-pin out type. I've hooked up a short 4-pin to 3-pin XLR three different ways, and the mic sounds the same on all three wiring configurations. Config #1 4-pin (1) --> 3-pin (1) [ground] 4-pin (3) --> 3-pin (2) 4-pin (4)...

I have the same PowerBook. I don't record with it anymore, but when I did I would get shocked if I was recording my guitar through an old ungrounded amp. If I was touching the guitar strings I had to be careful not to touch the Titanium PB at the same time. Sometimes I would forget and have my left ...

Thanks ckeene. I apologize for my above questions being vague or confusing. So, in order to run a cable from the unbalanced direct outs on the M8 to the balanced ins on the MOTU I need to either use a TS jack or rewire a TRS jack to where tip goes to tip and ring/sleeve goes to ring/sleeve? The MOTU...

confusion on balanced-unbalanced ins and outs
Just got a Soundcraft Spirit M8 board to go with my MOTU 828mkII. I've been recording my own stuff for about 5 years or so and I've always mixed in the box. But lately I've felt the need for real faders, an analog eq and limitations placed on track count. The M8 fits the bill perfectly. My questions...

RNP vs Soundcraft M8 pres
I am probably about to purchase a Soundcraft M8 mixer. I will probably have to sell my RNP to help pay for this purchase. For those that have had experience with both of these pres, will the pres in the M8 be a step up or down (or even) from the RNP? I like my RNP but am willing to part with it to h...

You will see a noticeable improvement in the performance of your recording software because of the increase in processor speed - moreso I believe with a G5 as opposed to a G4 dual. I've been using a PowerBook G4 for about four years using a MOTU 828 mkII running AudioDesk 2. Even with maxed RAM and ...
