Hey Ethan (or whoever). I moved the desk and got "fancy" and placed it where my ears are about 5.8 feet back. With the desk centered, the stereo imaging is much improved. I have in my possession 12 sheets of 2'x4' OC 703 - 2" thick. I am going to build traps/absorbers based on these plans http://www...

odd shaped room - help with layout
Howdy. I moved into a new house and am using a spare bedroom for my little "studio". I write a record my own stuff. I record vocals, guitar/amp and bass in this room. I do drums elsewhere. Right now my desk (2'x4' - iMac & monitors) sits on wall "A" in between the window and wall "B". I'm wondering ...

Re: any recommendations on a distortion/overdrive pedal?
Crowther hotcake... i can't recommend this one enough! I'll have to agree. i bought one of toothpastefordinner's extras a couple of weeks ago and love the way it sounds. I've been playing an AnalogMan Ibanez Tube Screamer for years, but the "hotcake" is getting all my attention now. Oh yeah, thanks...

FS: AnalogMan JUICER compression pedal
I'm selling a fairly new AnalogMan Juicer that I bought new about 6 months ago. It's basically in new condition electronically and cosmetically. It's the best effects pedal compressor I've ever heard on a guitar. I also used it for bass. It can also be used as a volume boost. I just have not used it...

Re: shipping a guitar cab...?
I sold a Rivera KnuckleHead and matching 4x12 cabinet a few years ago on eBay. The shipping for the cabinet cost less than $40 to UPS it from Alabama to Portland OR (or was it Denver CO). Anyway, I packed the cabinet and took it to UPS - it was too big to ship. So I took it back home and packed it a...

Re: uh oh. here comes the mad rush. bitrman's are 39.99!
Grrrr. I'm sending mine back because the distortion knob is hard to turn, and turning it over 50% seems to result in less, not more, distortion. Is that the issue you had with yours? No - The DISTORT knob turned fine but it did not distort. Still wondering about the high pitched noise on the one I ...

Re: crap sounding records... that are great!
I'm a huge th' Faith Healers fan. Their stuff sounds terrible, but they are so good - so very good. They were on Too Pure back in the day. Broken up for a while now. The main guy has another band Quickspace that I think is still around. I'm learning that it's not so much about the recording quality,...

Re: uh oh. here comes the mad rush. bitrman's are 39.99!
a bit off topic but ... Does anyone else get a high pitched ring when using the Bitrman especially when you boost the COMPRESS and/or DISTORT. This is my second Bitrman. The first one had a defective DISTORT knob. Maybe I should contact Alesis. Just wondering if this was a problem or part of the eff...

Re: digital guitar?
Yeah, I think it's kind of a lame idea. To me, rock and roll is all about noise. Why take the noise out with some clean digital electronics. I don't know - I like noise. I like old tube amps and finicky guitars.

Re: location multitrack on a laptop,
I'm using an 828 mkII which has two firewire ports. I go from my external firewire drive to the 828, and from the 828 to my PowerBook. Works perfectly.
