Yes. The PS-02 runs on AAA's and the PS-04 on AA's. They can also run on an AC adaptor, which is included with the 02, but costs extra for the 04.takeout wrote:Do these Zoom jobbies run on batteries?

Re: 4-Track For Ideas???
As some have mentioned above, the virtual tracks or "takes" are additional tracks that you can records on, but you can only have 4 active for playback at any one time. When you're done recording you can bounce any 4 takes down to one or two tracks, or you can just dump all the takes to your computer...

Re: 4-Track For Ideas???
I forgot to mention that the PS-02 goes for about $100 to $150 at ebay these days. I'd spend the extra cash to get a PS-04 instead.

Re: 4-Track For Ideas???
Here's another shout out for the Zoom PS-04, mentioned above. Zzounds has them for about $200 (free shipping). I also have the previous version, the PS-02, which is also a great song writing idea capturing device, but the 04 has 4 tracks (instead of just 3) and 10 virtual takes per track for a total...

Re: board suggestion - stickies, faqs, etc
An alternative would be to have a FAQ sub-forum, and make it the first sub-forum (then General Redcording, @#$ computer, etc.). Then, when a FAQ worthy thread occurs, it can be moved to the FAQ forum (rather than just linking to it in the greatest hits thread). For an example look at my Zoom PS-02 a...

You know, the first time I saw that scene I thought, boy, Jay needs to chill out. With each subsequent viewing I became more and more aware of what a dismissive asshole Tweedy was being.

Re: I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
It turns out there won't be an album of the decade this decade, that's been cancelled.
Yes, after watching that movie I sat down and wrote a couple new songs on the guitar just so I'd have an excuse to record something new and play with all the gear I'd been neglecting. Cool stuff.

Re: Eno/Gabriel Musician's Union
It doesn't seem to be so much a "union" as a how to guide to marketing your own music on the net, and plans to bring together musicians with people who can do that marketing. But as pointed out, many signed artists won't have this option. But interesting none the less

Re: I need help with an article
1) Are you familiar with basic guitar anatomy?
Minimally. Draw me a picture.
2) What are some problems you run across with guitars in your studio on a regular basis (bad intonation, scratchy output jack, fret buzz, etc)?
All of the above. Great idea for an article.

Re: free web host for 3 years?
Yes, I opened an account with them and it is for real. They are nuts. This is an incredible deal. Obviously, they hope to keep you as a customer after three years, but that's a long time to wait for the payoff. Do it!
