Re: kick drum mics piss me off
theres no wrong way to mic drums really...experiment..and just for the record, the entire 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' Red Hot Chili Peppers album was recorded with an SM57 on the kick, and the opening to that song (BSSM) has a killer sound

Analog tape head cleaning
I clean my reel2reel tape heads about every day, with a mix of different alchohols..the stuff works but im wondering how often most people clean heads? Every time you record? It seems like a bit much, but liek I said the stuff just keeps building up..maybe its my tape

Mixes..and car audio
My mixes sound great on most systems..some of you have heard them on this forum..now, the problem is the car. Some cars sound great, while others really emphsize the HARSH hi end (cymbals) low end seems ok, but what about the harsh problem? Like I said it sounds pretty good on boomboxes, home stereo...

Finally a great guitar tone
I think I got a tone I can finally like. I used a SM57 a little off centered
and with a little moving around it sounded pretty good.

Re: Our new song..(mixed by me too)
I was going for that 1970s rock sound. Not too compressed, but very powerful. I think it worked, we have come quite a ways since I recorded this back in February. We have won quite a few competitions. A lot of people like the singer, saying he fits. I hope he does. Its hard listening to your own ban...

Re: Drummer leaves beater on kick, sounds like crap
actually, most professionals DO keep the beater on the head, and I adivse others too. The sound should not be effected. If it is, thats probably a tuning problem. Keep it on the head because you know at all times where the beater is. Most drummers do this. Dave as a professional drummer and enginee...

Re: Tape Saturation Demo
It was not seutp for the low-end boost. What you're hearing is just the distortion of thoes frequencies. lowest always distort first.only in this case its more like the fattening of the bass not death metal distortion.

Re: Tape Saturation Demo
Hi,
I was thinking about keeping the volumes the same, BUT you have to remember tape saturation IS louder! That's why its saturated in the first place! I could make a new version easily but ill save that for another time...thanks for listening
