Re: New Orleans style horn section

Re: M. Ward's Drum Sound on "Never Had Nobody Like You"

definitely could be a supraphonic or black beauty they sound pretty much like this if the top head has a ring or something on and it's tuned pretty low - I guess most snares can do this sound as it's mostly the wires and the character of the drum gets taken out with the muffling

Re: Sennheiser MD504 vs current “e604”

I've never tried the 504 looking at the published freq response and polar pattern diagrams briefly they look almost identical I don't think it'd matter much? easy to compensate for differences if they are similar sounding in the real world at least I like the e609 silver on tom top or bottoms althou...

Re: 8 Channel Hum Eliminator before Tape

the hum eliminators will only work for specific types of problems - they don't elimanate hum in every situation so don't expect them to

Like 13 on the chart but switch the red and black on the XLR end

I believe using the TS outs on the art is the best because the docs don't say they're balanced while it states XLR outs are balanced

keep it unbalanced to unbalanced

Re: M. Ward's Drum Sound on "Never Had Nobody Like You"

the sound will come mostly from the instruments not particularly the production - if you want to do it live with a performer that is it very much sounds like my personal drum kit when it's set up a certain way 20" maple kick 5mm 5-ply North American maple shell with 45 degree edges and wood hoops- a...

"dB or dBFS I dunno" seemed like you didn't understand what was what so lemme know what outputs you're using Tape outs / Aux outs / stereo outs / headphone out ? and what type of tape you're using brand/formulation sounds like the signal coming from the deck is too hot -or- something with the softw...

Re: Tips for Dumping 388 > M-Track 8 > Garage Band

Note: ALL Digital devices which use converters from analog to digital are dBFS "deciBels Full Scale". No exceptions. Cheers. PS, you mix with your EARS not your eyes, don't mind the size of the waveforms. http://cdm.link/2017/11/waves-give-old-school-vu-meter-daw-missing-free/ I meant stuff like th...

Re: Tips for Dumping 388 > M-Track 8 > Garage Band

watch the video :hammer: the meters on channels of a DAW are typically in dBFS - 99% of the time - there are plug in virtual analog VU meters out there though I believe you're not wrong in the low levels looking sketchy - I've looked at the documentation for the gear you're connecting studio gear ha...

Re: Tips for Dumping 388 > M-Track 8 > Garage Band

typically people do this if you're tracking to a DAW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hxMidhTLa8 this ensures plug-ins, the mix bus, and the faders are working optimally I have no idea if what you're doing will sound better or worse - but I know when my digital tracks are all up at 0dBFS it sounds ...
