As if we need more proof that VHS sounds bad, I found my earliest VHS recordings on youtube. I was barely in high school at the time and DAT was way too expensive for us. It's not really fair to blame VHS as I didn't know what the hell I was doing either. The weirdest part is to this day I remember ...

Is that why it gives the impression of more low end?
I might have to post an audio example if I have time.

Passive bass into a line input. Why does it sound good?

Why does my passive bass sound so good plugged into a line level input? After all the years I've been recording you'd think I'd know what all this impedance stuff means. I don't. I wouldn't want some of the people I record knowing where I live.

What makes me crazy is when they set them up and then they don't use them!! "I only use these two toms on one song, and we aren't recording that one" Why did I tune and mic them then??! I used to have to record Tim Alexander's kit. 8 57's just for the octobons because he wanted them each panned a ce...

My mixes wouldn't recall correctly on another system anyway, so it doesn't really matter if they take my mix session files.

I do think I'd bum out if someone took my mix, tweaked a couple levels, then called it their own mix.

That's not a bad idea.
The other fun one would be mixing without listening.
You can only use visual tools to guide you.
I think that would be a cool experiment.

Nice one!
Must have done some serious automation to get those chorus vocal levels in check.

Haven't heard any of the other mixes yet. Downloading now.

Probably interesting to list what folks are mixing on too.
Console, Pro Tools, Cubase, Sonar, ect.

It's weird how easy it is to post up multitracks and have people all over the world mess with them and post the results. Pretty cool.
