Speaking of the Pumpkins and compression, this past weekend I heard Bullet With Butterfly Wings on the local (Joliet, IL) "all hard-rock and nu-metal rap-crap" station. Sounded like the chorus dived 6dB because of the dynamics and compression...

I, too, think that it soundz funny, and that it rocks. I hear a little GNR in that snare sound, too. Knowing that Rock could have delivered huge drum sounds, and didn't, adds to the coolness. I, too, like it to sound like I'm looking at the band; keys are the widest stereo, then "sweetners", then rhythm gtrs., then back vox,, toms, crashes the ride opposite hh, bass opposite the hh or the ride (whichever is the main perc.) but near center, snare, kick and ld voc. up the middle, leads go ...
