Re: Any leftys here??

I'm left handed. I play left handed. I'm not gay (sorry boys...). I have lefty instruments and righty instruments that I play upside-down or restrung. I've gotten some nifty deals for being left-handed. I scored a 73 lefty Les Paul Customfor $300 from a lefty heroin addict. Poor guy. I stole his dre...

Re: Who's using electronic drums??

My drummer uses a expanded roland v-drum set with the td-10 brain. He uses a different frame and upgraded cymbal pads. I know it wasn't cheap. There are many pros and a couple of cons. We are in NYC, so the lack of noise is nice (but we still had to move the studio because a neighbor was complaining...

Re: nine inch nails and gear

I don't even know where to start. nin production is almost a pathos unto itself.

You can look at his studio here

and read a ton here

Some of the articles are much more useful than others, especially the 1994 guitar world and Keyboard interviews.

Re: logic audio "system overload:core audio too slow&am

The problem you are having is most likely your hard drive speed. I experienced the same exact problem in Logic Audio 6 on a dual ghz g4 with 1 gig of ram. We weren't using any soft synths, and were only tracking two audio tracks and one midi track at a time. While the drive was supposed to be fast e...

Re: My iBook hates Digital Performer 4?

10.2.8 - I can't say what it is, but it does stupid stuff now that never occured before the update. I'm just gonna get 10.3 on there since it's supposed to be faster on a G3. Although apple claims the problems are due to a java problem, I think that the 10.2.8 update is intentionally bad so people ...

Thoughts on surround mixing conference

Last year I went to this, and was thinking about going again. It was pretty useful, and was wondering if anyone else has gone/is going/isn't going/etc. So, in short, what do you think?

Re: Artist Friendly Cities:Where's an affordable place to li

I have often though about moving to Portland. People there are great and genuine, seems like a great scene too, but the weather and rising cost of living is what has detered me. I understand it compares to SF of the late '90s these days. Seems a lot of Cali folks are moving there now. No sales taz ...

Re: Good guitar / music shops in NYC?

Here's more: 1) 30th st. Vintage Guitars (actually across the street from Rogue). It's well hidden, but well worth it. In my opinion, the best for a lot of things 2) Mojo Guitars (st.marks btwn. 1st and A). Small, but a lot of character. Also good at repairs 3) Chelsea guitars (23rd st. next to the ...
