I've always just sent my drum tracks on Aux sends and then created an Aux Buss with a compressor on it and then blended that back in with the original drum tracks or whatever I'm setting up a parallel compressor for. This isn't going to be any different than copying the tracks and setting up a buss ...

The great thing about the Wedge is the amount of tweaking you can do with the settings and it has some nice Plates on it but if you're looking for something kinda nasty then I'm not sure it's what you're looking for unless you want to just overload the crap out of it and see what it sounds like. I t...

Thanks for posting that link. Wish I had some of those combos to try out. One of them that I do have is a pair of 012's and a Sytek which will get some consideration next time round. My original post about using the M160 on snare was mostly just to see if anyone had a reaction along the lines of "fo...

I was doing some scratch tracks last night while recording drums in the same room so I didn't want the guitar to be heard. I plugged into this Marshall Micro amp with the three inch speaker and ran the headphone out into the mic pre on my Digi 002 and cranked it. Just a nasty sound. Wouldn't work as...

The SM 57 is one of the most iconic and versatile microphones in production. It has been used on countless timeless recordings and is one of the workhorses of the recording industry...... Real engineers use an Audix i5 Ok....There isn't much difference between the two if any at all. Same capsule, sa...

[1) How do you power your mics with this recorder? Does it have phantom power or do your mics have to have their own power source? If so, what is the most cost-effective way to power your mics? (The one I'm looking to buy has the 4 XLR inputs if that makes a difference.) A: The wonderful thing about...

It depends on how comfortable you are with stuff like that. I opened my 424 once because the stereo outs kept cutting out. I felt fortunate to get it all stuffed back in there but I'm not really very good with stuff like that. If you think you can fix it then what do you have to loose? Worst case sc...

I have many cheap ass mic stands that didn't last very long with constant use and a few that did. It's definitely worth spending the extra money on some good ones especially for your overheads. Nothing makes you look like an idiot faster than having your cheap boom stand fall over during a take. Get...

Beyer M160 on Snare?
Anyone ever use this on a snare? I know it can handle the SPL but I was just wondering if anyone ever tried it? I don't want to do anything to hurt it cause it's my favorite ribbon mic. I'd be running through a Sytek most likely. Thanks

I have the Digimax and it comes in pretty handy sometimes. I use it mostly to get my from 8 to 16 channels on my Digi 002. Personally I like older sounding pres but to each his own. I got a Sytek a couple years ago and it my go to for anything that I need a nice clean sound for. Search it up...Lots ...
