Oh, I forgot to mention that I fill all my empty boxes with nitrogen, to reduce the risk of fire.

Also, it helps the tone.

I Seriously Think my Tascam mixer was made on DAY ONE.

I checked the cereal number on the back. The number is 1000xx where xx = an integer between 01 and 20. (I know better than to publish serial numbers.) I checked the date code, and (as I understand Tascam date codes) this mixer was made in the 3rd quarter of 1982 (i.e., 23). AFAIK, they didn't start ...

I hardly ever buy gear new, but when I do, I tend to keep the boxes. I tell myself, "if I have to sell some other piece of gear, I'll have the perfect box to ship it in." Then it sits in the crawlspace next to the attic for 11 years, covered in splinters of cedar from when we had that roof tear-off ...

Measurements: 67mm x 24mm x 14mm out from the head at the back of the ear. No significant difference: dbx 161 vs. dbx 160A Hokum: 7.5 hU (hokum units) To be fair: I only A/B'ed them on bass drum. I'm not saying I'd strap a 160x from 1997 with a 161 from 1974 across a stereo mix (and expect good resu...

I've got a 161 on loan, and a 160A that's all mine. I tried A/B'ing the 161 and the 160A and heard no difference whatsoever . And my ears are fussy little sh*ts, too. So I'm inclined to think that there's really no significant difference between any of them (aside from whatever lives they've led), a...

I'm not a 388 expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I *am* used to cobbing gear together... if the pgm out is a channel direct out, there's your solution. My Ramsa has an insert jack on each channel, which allows me to use a TRS breakout to set up a send/return for each individual channel. S...
