CueMix FX sent to tape?
Hey guys, I'm thinking about picking up a 896mk3 to run along with my current 896HD. If the effects in cuemix are in use are they sent to tape by default or can you set it up to just have a bit of reverb sent to the performer's cans while maintaining a dry signal to the software? Also, any insight t...

Soundcraft Series 200
Hey all, Just picked up a Soundcraft Series S200 8/4 at a surplus sale. I dig this little console and am having a good time checking it out. Anyone use these before, any tips, tricks, mods of any sort? I've checked out a couple posts mentioning recapping and thought I would post a topic here to see ...

Awesome thread guys. One other one that comes to mind is recording the springs to the old style pull down attic access ladder. Those things are usually pretty old, rusty and creaky. I created a ship running aground effect combining that with pulling a cinder block across a wood floor and a few other...

Wiring a 9 lug 3PDT A/B Switch
Hey guys, I'm fixing an intermittent A/B stompbox and plan on using a 3PDT footswitch however I'm a bit confused on which of the 9 lugs to use. I've used them before in building footswitches but had diagrams to show wiring. The box is as simple as it gets, passive, no LEDs, 3 TS jacks (1 in, 2 out),...

For me Sonar has done the trick project after project. I started using Cakewalk about 12 years ago and have just kept with them ever since. I used DP and Pro Tools a bit in college and got to know Tracktion fairly well in the past few years however I'm back to Sonar now about 98% of the time. I main...

Recording The Beatles- great info and excellent photos. This Is Your Brain On Music along with The World In Six Songs has some pretty nifty insight in it. I also like to pick up old books on Recording from the 60's or earlier. Always some cool info and great diagrams etc. One I've wanted to pick up ...

Hey Pat, For the sake of simplification have you tried to take the Samson out of the equation for the time being and just run the EMU Out L/R --> dBX --> Emu In L/R then run the compressor's out into my pre-amp Since you are operating at a line level with the pre-recorded material do you need to run...

I've used the MDR-7506 cans for years and really dig them. This is a great post, I bought my first pair of 7506s about 10 years ago and just got another new pair this year however I like to hear positive feedback on the HD 280s from you guys. I'll be needing to get an additional pair at some point s...

Hey Kingmetal, It's been said already but I'll chime in with saying the original M-Tron is fantastic. I've used it a ton over the past probably 5-6 years and really dig it. Not sure how it is shipping these days but I certainly recommend getting the additional Tape Banks if it doesn't ship with them...

Hey Trodden, Bumping the buffer size up a tad could remedy the issue by allowing more time essentially for the computer to process plugs, audio playback and tracking at once. However, I've found with my setup overdubbing with the latency/buffer maxed out to allow plugs to do their thing can still ca...
