Re: Is a 4-track cassette the center of your home studio?

I think its funny that kids now learning to record things have probably never even touched a cassette tape or done anything that doesn't involve a computer. I'm not sure why, but recording to tape just feels more real than using a computer. It makes me feel old even though I'm really not. I think sp...

Re: the simplest mixer

Actually it wasn't something I was planning for right away, although I think I was leaning toward something simple for drums. Something like 3-4 mics into a passive mixer with 1 out. The impedance in and out would probably be the same, maybe 600 ohm, although maybe that's not high enough with transf...

Re: the simplest mixer

Actually I didn't think of it as a clobbering because searching was rather helpful. There are some pretty good threads, but sometimes I have better things to do than posting 2000 times.

the simplest mixer

What problems would I have if I built a simple passive mixer using just potentiometers. Do I have to have an input buffer or transformers for mics or line level.

What does that big slider control? Is it like a threshold control or input or what?

How high is the plate voltage? I thought those bellari 105's have 12v wall wart supplies.

And IIIIII think that Mr. Jeff Robinson posted this topic just to see the mayhem it would cause.(maybe as a psychological experiment!)

Re: Million dollar guitar sounds for $58

You know what sounds great? Behringer microphones. I threw away all of my Neumanns because Behry's are that good....ok maybe not, but anyway I thought the reason people don't like behringer stuff is because of quality control issues, not that they necessarily sound terrible.(maybe just utilitarian).

Rolls CL151 GLC Compressor Limiter

Anyone used one of these rolls comps? They have a preamp, gate, compressor, and limiter with phantom power, and they're small. They look like really handy tools, and i'm curious as to whether they're any good.

Re: what exactly is a producer?

I think the producer is the dude who supplies the coke for "atmosphere", although sometimes he's the one who shoots holes in the equipment for "encouragement".

Re: stores in phoenix?

I haven't been there in a while, but I kinda sorta wouldn't go to guitar and keyboard city. They don't have any prices on anything and I think they are worse than GC. I went in there a long while ago, and while I was there I asked one of the guys there the price of some item, and he said that wasn't...
