I use an HP and have been fairly happy with it, though it is getting left behind these days. Often getting one custom built can be just as cheap and better in the longrun in terms of upgradeability. I've been told using the internet on the same computer you record to is quite a sin as well....

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I know my comp is on the weak side, but i was pretty clueless as to what i needed gear wise to make multiple tracks happen simultaneously. We use Peak LE at my school in OSX and i have had great results. Its been a fine replacement for SoundEdit 16 from 9.2, plus it has tons of cool sounding FX.

Newbie I/O question?
Im trying to find out what i need to buy to help me record 6-8 (or more) serperate simultaneous tracks. A friend has recently asked me to help him record some demos for his band, but i have never done anything more than one track at a time projects for myself.
Any help would be appreciated!
