Re: Bass Mic???

I can't recommend a mic for stand-up, but the MD 421 is super for bass cabs. In fact another Sennheiser mic that sounds surprisingly good for bass cabs is the e604, those little tom mics. I was in a pinch because I planned on going direct for bass, used one and it was well defined with lots of low e...

I think Go-Bots were like the poor man's Transformer. That's why I had a ton of them. I did have the Transformer that turned from gun to robot.

Re: Kick Drum

These are a lot of great suggestions. This is a possible suggestion, but more of a story, I guess...I recorded this ska band I was in a few years back. The drummer had a Tama RockStar kit and the kick's beater head was like a loose, floppy blanket. However, the guy was like 6'5", 250 lbs and just br...

Re: Hank Williams, III????

He made a really slick pop country record, against his will apparently. I think all the big label 'mooks' wanted to milk his name for all it's worth. He's too punk rock for that! He did a club tour with a half rock/half country set, and his acoustic guitar amp set-up was through a Marshall-like half...

If you're a guitar fan, check out Gruhn's Guitars.

I don't live there, but I met the coolest people in some of the music clubs on Broadway.

Re: Mapex Drums experience?

I'm currently recording this band, the drummer has the V Series maple kit. For a $500 kit, they sound huge, warm, and are pretty versatile. Really nice drums for the price, IMO.
