Re: The Worst Music in the world
I really don't have time to explain why most music nowadays sucks very, VERY bad I hate it when people say this. If you really believe this, you are lazy. There is A LOT of music out there, period. Of course a lot of it is going to be bad, but at least they're trying. Plenty of good music is being ...

the underappreciated keytar
I offer up these tidbits of home-recorded madness for your review. Please comment, or at least click so that the hit count on our page goes up, our ego depends on it...... http://silentage.net/MP3s/Silent_Age-Untitled.mp3 The main instrument on this song is a Yamaha shs-10 "keytar" run through a shl...

Re: very simple mxl 990 vs octava mk219 mic question
I dig the mk219, it's a good cheap mic. I don't know what else to say, but I used it as the only drum overhead for some of the recordings I did of my band recently. Here's one of those songs: http://silentage.net/MP3s/Silent_Age-Untitled.mp3 That's a mk219 on the OH, sm57 on the snare, and d112 on t...

Re: fixing/replacing the input jack on a fender amp
This happened to my Fender Hot Rod DeVille. It's been to the shop and fixed twice. It broke a third time and I said the hell with it and just started using the 2nd input jack.

Re: Adding rhythm guitars behind leads
I like to lay down my guitar tracks in separate takes. If only because it allows me to throw in some other little riffs and pickup notes into the solos that I usually can't pull off live. Then again we end up having these recordings with four or five guitar tracks and when we play the songs live aft...

There seem to be a few Philip Glass fans here, haven't seen this link posted yet. If you haven't checked out the IBM Glass Engine, do so...

Re: Tube AMps: Tone and Care
I've bought a Fender Hot Rod Deville about 4 years ago and I've replaced both the output tubes and the preamp tubes. I had to replace the output tubes about a year after I bought it, but haven't touched them since. I just replaced the preamp tubes a few months ago. I have the same problem with the v...

Re: Rude pro audio dealers
I try to do as much business as possible with Full Compass. I have had nothing but good experiences with them. They've helped me out with research even when I wasn't planning on buying anything at the time. If the rep I talk to isn't in his office I leave a message and always get a call-back. Servic...

Re: Fairchild 670
Don't bother posting replies about plugins. I have yet to hear one that sounds true (to my ear anyway). Sometimes it seems like I'm the only one that can hear the difference. Well, if you're the only one that can hear the difference, it shouldn't matter, right? Unless you're making these mixes sole...

Re: Help I have to record an ACDC cover band
I didn't say to not do the recording, I'm sorry if I was misunderstood. I'm just saying maybe you shouldn't strive so hard to make it sound exactly the same. I didn't want to come off a some condescending jerk with high ideals and whatnot, but I guess I did. And I know you can make a living in a cov...

Re: Help I have to record an ACDC cover band
My advice is to forget all of this advice (no offense to the advice givers) and make your own record. Who would want to listen to an exact copy when the original is readily available (and probably better)? I have no idea why a cover band would want to record anyway, unless they did something new and...

Re: small guitar amps for recording
I've got a Fender Frontman 25 that I grabbed off ebay for around $100. Solid state, but nice clean sound. It sucks distorted, but the clean sound makes up for it.

two digi 002
Has anyone had any experience with hooking two digi 002 rack units together with 8 pre's to get 16 channels of input? Is this even possible? Could a powerbook handle it?
