Re: Soundtracs: scratchy knobs/switches

Up until recently I just got 'tuner cleaner' from Radioshack, but there's none of those left locally. I've never done faders yet. Just replaced them. Is there anything on the market that doesn't lose the physical resistance in a pot after you cleaned it? Seems everything, tuner cleaner, or whatever ...

Re: Soundtracs: scratchy knobs/switches

Dang it, I just did a whole unit with De-Oxit thinking it was a lubricating cleaner

With all the local Radioshacks closing I had to branch out from tuner cleaner.

Re: Unbalanced Polarity Flip

Ta guys. Tony, unfortunately it's not a mic, it's the same line level signal that gets split multiple times in various signal chains and then mixed back together. I guess I just need to find a new inexpensive source of transformers, I wish Weber still had that little one they had for DI's out at abo...

Re: Unbalanced Polarity Flip

ya seems like you don't have multiple phases to flip - just the one phase plus ground coming in on the unbalanced line what are you hoping to achieve ? I try not to say phases, isn't that a bunch of peoples pet peeve when you confuse polarity and phase? But yeah, I'm looking for 180 degree phase sh...

You could do it with software ...

... by what I mean, invert the track after it's recorded.
Unfortunately the mixer is a submixer, as in it's mixing stuff before it's recorded :(

Re: Unbalanced Polarity Flip

Yes, a transformer will do this. How would I wire it? Would I effectively be lifting the ground? I'm guessing feed the signal in one side of the primary, and ground the other, and then on the opposing side take the signal of the opposing end of the secondary and use the other end of the secondary a...

Unbalanced Polarity Flip

I have a little mixer without a polarity / phase invert switch, I'd like to make something that will flip the polarity of an unbalanced signal (coming in on a 1/4") without running the risk of shorting something, can I do it with a transformer or a couple of caps or something? Thanks in ad...

Re: Bipolar caps - eliminate?

I think you mean polarized or do they actually have no +? Bipolar is something else, and I think your power supply is dual rail, or at least that's what I'd call it. Could be they are there for DC blocking, or they could be part of a filter. You can get non-polarized electrolytics vs. polarized elec...

There's always a situation where having a spare crappy mixer comes in handy, at least in my experience. :high:

Glad it worked.

Re: question on “Intercom” circuit I am planing to build

It's too early yet for me to have my thinking cap on, but here's a link to setting the gain on the 386 which may be helpful. https://www.petervis.com/electronics%20guides/LM386%20Audio%20Amplifier/LM386%20Audio%20Amplifier%20Gain%20Calculation.html and I think you have two different circuits there, ...

Re: Preamps: Presonus M80 WITHOUT Jensens vs Mackie 1604VLZ

I also don't know how handy you are, but I started this thread https://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=88011&p=704738 about making a simple 8 channel mic preamp, I ended up not doing it because I got a phantom powered mic, but the theory is there. If you have some soldering skills it's ...
